Former Premier League boss Sean Dyche made a surprise appearance on E4 reality dating show Celebs Go Dating alongside Kerry Katona and fans didn’t see it coming
Celebs Go Dating viewers were left gobsmacked as former Premier League manager Sean Dyche made an unexpected appearance on the E4 dating show.
The seasoned ex-Everton boss, 54, has been without a club since getting the boot from the Toffees back in January. Since then, he has made some appearances on sports panel programmes Stick to Football and A League of Their Own.
However, supporters certainly wouldn’t have anticipated him venturing into reality television territory. That’s exactly what happened though, with Sean popping up on the most recent instalment of Celebs Go Dating.
The E4 show attempts to pair up assorted famous faces across numerous romantic encounters. Ex-Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona, 44, has been featuring on the programme following her break up with former fiancé Ryan Mahoney last November.
Kerry seems to have discovered romance with fitness instructor Paolo Margaglione. Whilst the duo were on their date during the episode, Sean unexpectedly turned up.
Renowned as a massive music enthusiast, Sean approached to say hello to his mate Katona. The 54 year old wandered over and grinned: “Hello! How are you?”.
This baffled narrator and comic Rob Beckett, who interrupted: “Surely not! That’s ex-Everton, Watford and Burnley football manager Sean Dyche!”.
As Sean and Kerry embraced, Rob quipped: “Is Sean one of her ex-husbands?”. When Kerry enquired “You good?” Sean gestured towards Paolo and responded: “You dating these Northerners now are you?”
The football boss shrugged and declared “fair play” before clasping Paolo’s hand and adding: “Lovely to meet you.” Sean then prepared to leave, remarking: “I’ll leave you to it, I just wanted to say hello.”
Kerry joked: “I thought you were going to ask me out on a date then!” Rob replied: “Err, Paolo is still sat there Kerry.”
Kerry responded: “I’m doing well, he’s lovely. I’m sticking with my guns, I’m going to stay.” Sean wrapped up the encounter with “Good, it’s lovely to see you”, followed by a peck on Kerry’s cheek and another handshake for Paolo. Rob humorously commented: “Well that wasn’t weird in the slightest was it?”.
Viewers were left in disbelief at the unexpected appearance and they wasted no time sharing their reaction on social media.
One viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter as one said: “Sean Dyche rocking up on #CelebsGoDating to check up on Kerry Katona’s new fella was definitely not on my bingo card.”
Another wrote: “Sean Dyche making an appearance/cameo, chatting too Kerry Katona on #CelebsGoDating Well I never!?! I bet that was on none of your bingo cards for this year for sure!”
A third simply asked: “Why is Sean Dyche on celebs go dating?” Meanwhile one fan added: “Sean Dyche turning up on #CelebsGoDating was not on the bingo card.”
