China’s giant stealth drone spotted on test flight as satellite images show ‘secret base’

A picture has shown what some have called a Chinese ‘CH-7 drone’ appearing to come in to land in a top secret base, as the country continues to up it’s military might

A Chinese stealth drone has been spotted on test flights in a chilling reminder of the country’s military capabilities. The high-altitude UAV’s exact purpose is unknown, with South China Morning Post reporting that it could be a CH-7 stealth drone. Images circulating social media show the the aircraft making test flights.

One picture shows the aircraft in flight from behind as it comes in to land on what appears to be a top secret Chinese military base. According to state broadcaster CCTV: “The CH-7 is a stealth high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by China.

“Featuring a flying-wing design, it boasts strong low-observability and all-weather operational capabilities, and is capable of performing missions such as reconnaissance and precision strikes.”

It comes as a US study issued a stark warning that China could potentially create an army of Terminator-style soldiers. The National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB) report suggests that China might develop “genetically enhanced PLA super-soldiers with fused human and artificial intelligence”.

The document, titled ‘Charting the Future of Biotechnology’, outlines how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) plans to utilise biotech-enhanced troops to transform the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) into a “world-class military” by 2049.

It highlights China’s focus on “human-machine teaming” and alleged bioengineering efforts, stating: “In 2018, an ostensibly rogue Chinese scientist produced genetically modified babies and though briefly imprisoned, is already back in the lab.”

Drawing parallels with historical advancements, the study notes: “At the outset of World War I, the United States did not yet fully appreciate how airplanes would rapidly change the nature of war.”

Adding: “But once we understood the significance of aviation for force projection, reconnaissance, logistical support, and beyond, we dominated the skies.”

The report warns of the impending impact of the biotech revolution: “Similarly, the full impact of the biotechnology revolution will not be clear until it arrives. But one thing is certain: it is coming. There will be a ChatGPT moment for biotechnology, and if China gets there first, no matter how fast we run, we will never catch up.”

With China’s push towards “intelligent warfare”, the report raises alarm bells: “Our window to act is closing. We need a two-track strategy: make America innovate faster, and slow China down.

“The Commission has every reason to believe that the CCP will weaponise biotechnology. Drone warfare will seem quaint,” the report states.

Created by Congress in 2022, NSCEB has been charged with exploring how biotechnology intersects with national security, evaluating the consequences of biotech developments, and proposing tactics to maintain American dominance and safety in this vital sector.
