This Morning viewers were given a sneak peek behind-the-scenes of ITV’s Emmerdale as the drama between Robert Sugden, Aaron Dingle and John Sugden reaches boiling point
All eyes are on Robert Sugden, Aaron Dingle and John Sugden in ITV’s Emmerdale at the moment as the trio’s love triangle looks set to reach a dramatic end in upcoming episodes.
The walls have started to close in on John (Oliver Farnworth) and he’s soon set to face an ultimatum; either confess to his murders and see husband Aaron (Danny Miller) run off with his half-brother Rob (Ryan Hawley), or take Aaron over the edge of a cliff with him and risk both of their lives.
Ahead of the dramatic cliffhanger airing on ITV1, This Morning was given an exclusive look behind-the-scenes, revealing how the stunt was filmed and what the actors think of the storyline.
Actor Ryan Hawley, who reprised his role as Robert earlier this year, revealed that his character is being blamed for “everything” and this could even lead to him exiting the Dales.
“Everything’s getting blamed on Robert at the moment. No one believes him,” Ryan said. “So, it’s not great for Robert, really. Maybe Robert might leave…maybe!”
Meanwhile, actor Danny Miller admitted his character Aaron has been far too “naive”, saying: “I never thought he’d be this naive. Because, me and Ollie [Farnworth] have been filming a lot of stuff where he’s just constantly pulling the wool over Aaron’s eyes and Aaron’s going, ‘OK!'”.
However, Danny revealed that in Monday’s (September 8) episode of Emmerdale, Aaron finally wakes up and realises what John’s been doing to him, which leads to all of the drama unfolding.
“He’s figured it out and he’s trying to get back to the village, but he doesn’t want John to know he’s figured it out. There’s no talking him out of it once he realises what’s happened, so it’s just about finding out who John really is.
“Then it’s a case of, should he get him into the police station and put him down for the rest of his life?!” Danny teased.
Oliver, who took on the role of murderous John last year, explained how the drama on the cliff edge unfolds, revealing John is determined for his brother Rob to not “have the life” he wants with Aaron.
“He knows this is his endgame playing out right now. He knows if he goes over on his own, these two will reconcile and live the life that he wants,” Oliver said.
“So, the last thing that he would want, is for his brother to have the life that he thinks he deserved.”
This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV1 and Emmerdale airs on ITV1 at 7.30pm on weekdays
