Newly released files include a lewd drawing of a woman’s nude silhouette allegedly sent to Epstein by Donald Trump and a photo of the UK’s man in Washington talking to the paedo in a bathrobe

Lord Mandelson shared a photo of himself in a bathrobe talking to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein for the dead billionaire’s birthday — and called him his “best pal”. The photo and handwritten note were part of a slew of new files released by US lawmakers.

They also include a lewd drawing of a woman’s nude silhouette allegedly sent to the disgraced financier by Donald Trump with a birthday message written inside and what appears to be the US President’s signature.

A 238-page book compiled for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003 by then-girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell — currently serving a prison sentence for sex trafficking girls — features a letter from Mandelson, who is currently the UK ambassador to the US.

It also includes a photo that appears to show Little St James — Epstein’s private island in the US Virgin Islands — and is accompanied by Mandelson writing “taking you by surprise… in one of his glorious homes he likes to share with his friends (yum yum)”.

The pages are contained in files from the estate of the dead billionaire sex offender, which was handed over to a Congressional committee in the US.

The collection of birthday tributes include a hand-drawing of a woman’s body, signed “Donald”. The bizarre birthday note seemingly from Trump states the two men had “certain things in common”.

It reads in the style of a script. Voice Over: There must be more to life than having everything. Donald: Yes, there is, but I won’t tell you what it is. Jeffrey: Nor will I, since I also know what it is. Donald: We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.

Jeffrey: Yes, we do, come to think of it. Donald: Enigmas never age, have you noticed that? Jeffrey: As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you. Donald: A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.

The birthday note ends with “Donald J Trump” and is signed “Donald” in what appears to be Trump’s handwriting.

A further photo from the birthday book shows Epstein holding an outsized cheque, signed by “DJTRUMP”. Beneath it, a hand-written note read: “Jeffrey showing early talents with money + women sells ‘fully depreciated’ [redacted] to Donald Trump for $22,500.”

On Monday, the Oversight Committee of the US Congress confirmed it had received a copy of the birthday book, which includes letters from other high-profile individuals.

Alongside the birthday book, the committee subpoenaed a number of other documents, including Epstein’s will, non-disclosure agreements, signed between 1990 and 2019.

It also ordered any pictures and videos taken at Epstein’s properties or “referring or relating to… presidents and vice presidents of the United States” be handed over as well as bank statements, calendars and Epstein’s “little black book”.

The US President has denied any impropriety involving Epstein, his one-time friend. And he has had repeatedly denied all association, saying: “I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women.”

And he previously filed a $10billion (£7.4billion) defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the message.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X: “As I have said all along, it’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it. President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation.”

Mandelson’s message to ‘best pal’

A number of pages include pictures of Lord Mandelson, a former Labour minister, and a message that reads:

“Once upon a time, an intelligent, sharp-witted man they call “mysterious” parachuted into my life. You would spend many hours just waiting for him to turn up. And often, no sooner were you getting used to having him around, you would suddenly be alone… again.

“Leaving you with some “interesting” friends to entertain instead…. Or just some dogs to keep you company (he wasn’t always so keen on them). But then he would parachute back in… Very occasionally, taking you by surprise in some far off places.

“Or in one of his glorious homes he likes to share with his friends (yum yum). But, wherever he is in the world, he remains my best pal! Happy birthday, Jeffrey we love you!!” Pictures of Lord Mandelson appear on the pages, which include an image of a tropical island.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting addressed the US ambassador’s appearance in the newly-released files during a Sky News interview on Tuesday morning.

When asked if it is a problem that Lord Mandelson has continued to be linked to Epstein, Mr Streeting replied: “I think our ambassador has made it clear that he deeply regrets ever having been introduced to Epstein.”

Trump and Epstein were friendly for years, but the president has said he fell out with him in the early 2000s after the financier poached employees from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Epstein was first criminally indicted in 2006 in Florida on a state felony charge of solicitation of prostitution from a minor. He died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
