EastEnders star Heather Peace has shared an emotional update with fans as she continues to recover from breast cancer
EastEnders favourite Heather Peace has delivered a brilliant update as she continues her recovery from breast cancer.
The 50-year-old actress, beloved for her portrayal of Eve Panesar-Unwin on the iconic BBC soap, received her breast cancer diagnosis in October 2024. She went under the knife and focused on her recovery over the subsequent months, before wrapping up her chemotherapy treatment in May.
Heather courageously opened up about her diagnosis to followers on Instagram back in May, sharing footage of her wig fitting appointment. The clip showed her collaborating with experts to trim and style her new locks whilst continuing to film scenes for EastEnders, reports Plymouth Live.
“This video is an important part of my recent journey, which I wanted to share with you,” she penned at the time.

Posting on Instagram this Friday (September 5), the soap star has delivered another uplifting update to her supporters, announcing she would be ditching the wig for good on set.
Heather lovingly wrote alongside the clip: “Today I filmed the last scene with the wig. She’s been a wonderful companion.
“But me and her are over…I won’t ever forget her support in my down times. But it’s time I moved on. It’s a beautiful Friday. Happy weekend to one and all.”
The footage kicks off with Heather telling makeup artist Gary Jordan that she’d completed her final scene wearing her wig.
“From here on in, we’ll be shorn. Like a sheep!” Heather declares as Gary chimes in: “It’s true, short hair!”
The video also featured Heather celebrating on set alongside her on-screen wife, Balvinder Sopal (Suki Panesar-Unwin), who praised her saying: “She’s never got a line wrong… always on time, looking sharp.”
Heather went on to reveal that her upcoming scenes as Eve will feature her sporting short hair, which she amusingly compared to a “labradoodle”, noting it has grown back “really curly”.
Her EastEnders colleagues were quick to flood the comments section with messages of support. Max Bowden, who plays Ben Mitchell, wrote: “Love you so much! You’re astounding xxxx.”
Harriet Thorpe, known for her role as Elaine Peacock in Walford, simply added a string of love hearts, a sentiment echoed by Vinny Panesar actor Shiv Jalota.
Balvinder Sopal chimed in with: “STUNNING I can’t wait to see Eve rocking your new hair, it’s beautiful.”
