Emmerdale viewers were left convinced that Victoria Sugden was finally starting to see the truth about her killer brother John Sugden in Tuesday’s episode
Emmerdale fans were overjoyed on Tuesday as Victoria Sugden appeared to finally see through the deceit of her villainous brother, John Sugden. For weeks, she’s sided with secret murderer John over her other sibling Robert Sugden. Despite Robert consistently looking out for her and even serving time in prison after assaulting her rapist six years ago, Victoria has remained sceptical of him.
In the midst of Robert’s feud with John over their mutual affection for Aaron Dingle, John has cunningly manipulated situations to turn the villagers against his brother. So much so that when John hurled his husband Aaron off a cliff and framed Aaron’s ex Robert, everyone believed John.
Robert is now back behind bars, with no one believing in his innocence. However, this could be set to change if Tuesday’s episode is anything to go by.
Robert stands accused of attempting to murder Aaron and John, with Aaron still in a coma. Both John and Robert know that Aaron holds the key to revealing the truth, including Robert’s innocence, John’s guilt and the fact that Mack Boyd is in the bunker, reports the Mirror.
Victoria, along with others, firmly believes John’s lies about Robert, leaving Robert understandably disheartened. But driven by concern for Aaron’s safety, he remains determined to uncover the real events.
After recently disowning him, Victoria finally made the effort to visit Robert in prison on Tuesday to hear his side of the story. Despite Robert’s sincerity, Victoria, swayed by John, refused to believe him and instead chose to berate him.
Robert persistently implored her to listen, asserting that John was the real culprit, adding that he’d murdered Nate Robinson and harmed Mack. He pleaded with her to protect Aaron as “he’s next”.
Throughout most of their prison conversation, Victoria dismissed Robert’s claims, promoting her pro-John stance and expressing her disdain for Robert. In fact, she twice voiced her hope that Aaron would wake up and prove Robert, not John, was guilty, resulting in his return to prison.
However, Robert didn’t let this deter him too much, knowing he needed to rescue Aaron, not just to vindicate himself but also because he recognised the danger Aaron was in. Robert kept reminding Victoria that she knew him, and that John posed a threat to Aaron and “needed to be stopped”.
Victoria departed without uttering a word, but her facial expressions, both as she rose from her seat and when she glanced back before exiting, suggested that she might finally be acknowledging that Robert could be speaking the truth.
Upon arriving at the hospital and learning from Chas and Liam that Aaron was faring well, she deliberately observed John for his reaction.
The camera captured his forced reaction, showing his artificial delight before his expression shifted to one of clear unease.
The shot then returned to Victoria, who had clocked this behaviour and appeared thoroughly curious – could this be the moment she’s finally cottoned on to John’s role in Aaron’s fall?
Viewers were convinced this was the case, flocking to X with one declaring: “VIC IS SUSPICIOUS! FINALLY!” Another exclaimed: “THE MASK SLIPPED and VIC FINALLY NOTICED!” Whilst a third wrote: “OH MY GOD! VIC IS TOTALLY HAVING DOUBTS ABOUT JOHN!”
