Strictly Come Dancing champion Chris McCausland has left his followers feeling “very disappointed” following a recent career announcement.

The comedian, who danced his way to victory on the BBC One show last year alongside Dianne Buswell, has been keeping fans in the loop about their ongoing friendship via social media and their weekly podcast Winning Isn’t Everything.

However, Chris has now sparked concern among his fanbase after hinting that the podcast may be winding down as Dianne gears up for the forthcoming series of Strictly, set to kick off this weekend.

One devotee queried Chris on X: “Chris!! Your podcast can’t be ending, I spend all week wishing it was Thursday. We were robbed with a shorter one too this week.”

To which Chris responded: “I’m afraid it’s a possibility. At the minute it doesn’t look like Dianne will be allowed to do it through Strictly,” reports Wales Online.

This news left fans heartbroken, with one lamenting: “Nooooo Thursdays won’t be the same without you two ! Maybe she will be able to when BBC realise how popular it is.”

Another optimistically suggested: “Hopefully after Strictly it could come back.”

A third expressed their disappointment: “Very sad and disappointed if that’s the case. I look forward to listening every Thursday and never missed an episode. The connection with you and Dianne shows on the podcast and I will really miss it, entertaining, funny and provides some comfort and relief from a crazy world.”

“So disappointed to hear this today! ! Thursday’s just won’t be the same without you pair to brighten up the day! ! What can we do to get you back on air? ?” another penned.

The BBC declined to comment when contacted.

Chris and Dianne have joined forces again for the pre-recorded launch show, where they’ll perform their Bafta award-winning waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Dianne is also making history as the first contestant to compete while expecting, having recently announced her pregnancy. She’s expecting her first child with YouTuber Joe Sugg, whom she met on Strictly in 2018.

She later clarified her position on the show, confirming she’d be returning to Strictly and would be paired with a celebrity partner, much to the relief of concerned fans.

A source told The Sun: “Diane would never have turned down Strictly.

“She is making history as the first pregnant star to dance on the show.

“She’s full of enthusiasm and raring to go.

“She’s been giving it her all in rehearsals and is very aware of what she can and can’t do.

“Like the true pro she is, she knows where her limitations will be when it comes to lifts and more complex moves.”

Dianne also comforted fans by saying: “I’m still doing everything I did before. Obviously with lifts there’s going to be a bit more caution. But my doctor has said everything is normal.

“He said, basically, if you’ve done it before, in terms of being a dancer and you’ve done this, done that, then crack on and keep doing what you’re doing.”

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Saturday at 6.40pm.
