Alejandro Garnacho’s return to Manchester United was marked by an uncomfortable touchline encounter with Leny Yoro, as captured in fan footage this weekend.

Garnacho left United in the summer, following a disagreement with Ruben Amorim over his lack of playing time in the Europa League final loss to Tottenham. Following this, Amorim told Garnacho he could depart the club in the upcoming transfer window.

After the summer break, Garnacho informed the club of his desire to leave Old Trafford and joined the so-called ‘Bomb Squad’. Determined to stay in the Premier League, the winger secured a move to Chelsea, much to the anger of United supporters.

Just a fortnight after the deal was sealed, Garnacho returned to Old Trafford for the league match between his former and current clubs.

As soon as he stepped off the team bus, he was met with boos from the home fans and jeers during the pre-match warm-up.

Despite remaining on the bench due to an early red card for Chelsea, Garnacho still faced the ire of the home crowd, who expressed their disdain with chants throughout the 90-minute match.

And the animosity towards the Argentine didn’t seem to be confined to the stands.

Video footage from the Stretford End, shared on X, seems to show a heated exchange between Garnacho and his ex-team-mate Yoro. As the Chelsea player ran down the touchline, he was confronted by the central defender.

Initially, it looks like Garnacho tries to greet Yoro, but when this is ignored, he barges into the defender before heading over to Kobbie Mainoo who does acknowledge him.

Joshua Zirkzee also shakes Garnacho’s hand, but the uncomfortable encounter with Yoro clearly indicates tension between the United squad and the winger.

However, it was United who had the last laugh as they celebrated a 2-1 win over Chelsea. Unless they face each other in next year’s FA Cup, the Reds won’t come up against Garnacho directly until mid-April when the return match takes place at Stamford Bridge.
