Strictly Come Dancing favourite Gorka Marquez is still appearing on the BBC ballroom this year and he’s now got his hands full with a brand new project on the side

Strictly favourite Gorka Marquez has made an exciting career announcement.

The star has been a Strictly pro since 2016 and is still part of the line-up but was sadly left without a celebrity dance partner this year. However, he’s going to be a busy man as he’s hosting a new podcast with fiancé Gemma Atkinson.

The pair who met on Strictly and got engaged in 2021 – but now they’re going to be co-hosts of their new podcast Lost in Translation. The podcast on Rayo will give fans a peek into their life as a couple with two young children.

Gorka and Gemma will also be “helping listeners to navigate any problems they might have with their own unique set of advice”. Gorka said: “Gemma and I are different, but that’s what makes us work.”

He added: “We bicker, we laugh, and we always find a way through. We hope Lost in Translation makes people feel less alone in their own relationship dilemmas and brings a smile to their faces.”

HITS Radio presenter Gemma said: “We wanted to create something really authentic that parents and couples can relate to. Life with two kids and conflicting schedules is always an adventure, and Gorka and I definitely have our moments! This podcast is about embracing those differences and finding the funny side.”

A press release for the new pod reads: “Lost in Translation’ explores the couple’s day-to-day life, juggling their busy schedules alongside parenting their two young children. With language and cultural differences also thrown into their relationship mix they can find themselves, like many couples, not always seeing eye to eye along the way!

“Gemma finds it frustrating that Gorka has a place for everything and everything must be in its place whereas her more laid-back messy approach drives Gorka up the wall. He also doesn’t understand how she can have absolutely no interest in her fashion choices but is happy to consult her crystals in their big life choices.

“As well as stories and discussions from their own lives the couple who met on Strictly in 2017 will be helping their listeners to navigate any problems they might have with their own unique set of advice, but will Gemma and Gorka be offering the same solution or be dancing to a totally different beat?”

The podcast is available on the Rayo app, Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, or wherever you get your podcasts, from 22nd October with a new episode each week.

Gorka and Gemma welcomed daughter Mia in 2019, and son Thiago in 2023. The pair have been engaged for four years and are planning their wedding.

She told Express.co.uk: “We’ve toyed about doing it in Spain, so his family can come, and we’ve even thought about doing it in a registry office or a hotel in Manchester, just the two of us, and then have a big party after.

“But I think now we want to wait until Thiago is a bit older, so maybe next year or the year after, as he’s only two. If he’s a bit older, he could be involved in it, which would be really nice.”
