A barmy Rightmove property in Irvine, Scotland will set buyers back a whopping £75,000, despite it being covered in black mould and having a toilet in the bedroom
Social media users were left baffled after a strange mould-infested property was slapped with a hefty price tag.
The £75,000 four bedroom property in Irvine, Scotland, is described on Rightmove as being in a “prime location” and “providing a unique opportunity for savvy buyers looking to secure a deal through auction”.
But internet sleuths couldn’t take their eyes off the odd box shape the grey house appears as, standing relatively alone on a paving slab street. The oddly placed windows that stand only on the front of the property are also built in a random pattern, with no windows on the lowest floor.
And the inside of the poetry paints a grim picture, with black mould covering the walls, letters piling up in the filthy kitchen complete with a broken freezer, and a toilet plonked in the middle of what appears to be a bedroom. The bathroom, meanwhile, has been mostly stripped back save for a strangely shaped sink
The near impassable stairs are covered in debris, while the once pristine white walls of the bathroom are so checked with mould that potential homeowners might be reminded of a Charlie Chaplin film.
The nearby parking spot is also adorned with the letters ‘RFC’, likely for Scottish footballing giants Rangers.
“If I thought it would catch fire, I would say burn it down,” one Reddit user quipped.
Another said: “Yep flamethrower. Nothing else for it really. I kind of like that Egyptianny pedestal sink, though. Save the sink.”
A slightly less imaginative poster said: “Goddammit that is one ugly house.”
Others took aim at the price, with one person saying: “That’s overpriced by about 70k!”
Another said: “£75k seems overpriced. A lot of work involved in putting that right.”
On Reddit user made the point: “At this point you’re paying for the land… this needs getting rid and doing over.”
The seller claims that after renovation, the house could bring in “between £900-£1000 per month”.
But despite the price, the seller insists the house is being offered at a “fantastic discount” to ensure a sale.
The listing reads: “It should appeal to anyone looking for a straightforward purchase with excellent upside potential. Property is need of renovation and sure to appeal to a shrewd investor looking for a brilliant opportunity to add value.”
Estimates put monthly mortgage payments on the property at around £349.
