One member of the Royal Family has said he isn’t set to do the BBC ballroom show

The Queen’s son Tom Parker Bowles has firmly ruled out appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.

There has long been speculation that a member of the royal family might join the BBC’s glitzy dance competition, but Tom – who is Queen Camilla’s son – has now made it clear that it won’t be him.

He faced questions about potentially gracing the dancefloor during an appearance on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh. The 50-year-old was pressed about taking part, but flatly denied it, reports Wales Online.

Alan probed: “I know the Queen, your mum, is a fan of Strictly. I have got to ask Tom, have you been approached?”

Chuckling, Tom responded: “I kept reading in the newspapers, I mean, God knows why, about that I’m doing it.”

“I can hardly… I mean, my children are embarrassed enough about my dad dancing at parties. The idea of me getting into sequins and sort of running like that… no!”

“So it’s not true, and would never happen,” Tom continued.

“I mean, great show, obviously, but not for me.”

Throughout the years, whispers have circulated that a royal might fancy a whirl around the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom at some point, with Tom’s mother Camilla thought to be a good choice.

The BBC programme’s chief judge Shirley Ballas has previously disclosed her desire to witness a royal participating in the dance showdown, revealing she had her sights set on the Queen to make it a reality one day.

Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain last year, she suggested that the royal would be “great” in the competition.

“I would love it if Queen Camilla was part of it,” Shirley expressed.

“I sent her one of my books, Murder On The Dancefloor, and she sent me the most beautiful handwritten letter back,” added the dancer.

She further speculated that Camilla “would look great doing a little bit of a Foxtrot, maybe a bit of Cha Cha Cha” on the Strictly dancefloor.

Strictly Comes Dancing airs on BBC One.
