Hollyoaks legend Paul Danan tragically passed away at the age of 46 back in January, but since his funeral, it has been revealed he left most of his fortune to his 10-year-old son
Paul Danan’s will has been unearthed following the official ruling of his cause of death. It has been revealed that he opted to give most of his wealth to his darling son in his last will and testament.
Hollyoaks icon Paul was 46 when he was tragically found dead at his home in Brislington area of Bristol on January 15. The actor had been a TV star, having landed gigs on a host of various shows thanks to his phenomenal performance as bad boy Sol Patrick.
The Celebrity Big Brother star was laid to rest in lavish ceremony. Months after his death, it was ruled that Danan had died after ingesting a huge swathe of drugs including heroin and cocaine.
Since then, it has been revealed that Paul had managed to bank a huge sum of money throughout his life. Now, his final will has been exposed and it was revealed that most of the nest egg he had saved over the years would be going his 10-year-old child.
The Daily Mail reported that Paul had scrimped together over £400,000 that was to be distributed in his will. Official documents said that he had a net worth of £421,737 after all debts were recovered and expenses for the funeral had been paid.
Of his fortune, he gave £30,000 to each of his brothers Jamie and Joshua, with another £20,000 being given to his son DeNiro’s guardian Emma Devries. The rest of the money he had — a total of £341,737 — was to be given to DeNiro himself, held in a trust that would become available to him once he turned 21.
DeNiro was often seen on Paul’s social media platforms as he doted over his son. In one heartwarming post, it was clear he was proud of how his child had turned out, writing about him: “My life, my world, my everything.”
Another post of Paul and his son read in the caption: “Happy birthday to my most precious, beautiful, amazing child in the whole wide world! I love you so, so much and want to be with you every day and please God one day we will.”
It is believed that Paul had co-parented DeNiro together with a former partner, but it was not revealed who else was helping to raise him. However, it was clear that Paul was a proud dad, having gushed over him, adding he “hoped all his dreams come true”.
Paul first shot to fame when he starred in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks as notorious baddie Sol Patrick from 1997 to 2001. The role propelled the actor from Chigwell in Essex into the spotlight, helping him get onto other shows such as Celebrity Love Island in both 2005 and 2006.
On top of this, Paul managed to get onto other projects such as Celebrity Big Brother in 2017, where he became the sixth person to be evicted on Day 18. But despite his huge fame, Paul had suffered a major struggle with drugs and alcohol, having been in rehab no fewer than 17 times by 2022.
Drug overdoses were also a common part of his life, after he admitted he had begun to experiment with narcotics such as ecstasy when he was as young as 15. He also had suffered a heroin overdose in 2007, but thankfully was able to survive.
