Married at First Sight UK fans are baffled by one couple’s decision to stay in the experiment
Fans of Married at First Sight are convinced that one couple is clinging to their doomed relationship for a crafty reason: to get more airtime.
The reality show has witnessed its fair share of marital disasters, with 2024 groom Caspar even tying the knot with a new woman just a year after he exited the series as a singleton.
However, relationship gurus Paul C Brunson, Mel Schilling and Charlene Douglas can’t be held responsible as some couples appear to be perfectly matched.
Just last week, newcomers April and Leo were hailed as the ‘best match’ of the series moments after their first meeting – to be fair, their chemistry was palpable even through the screen.
But controversial couple Sarah and Dean have never seen eye to eye. Despite this, they’ve consistently chosen to remain in the experiment, reports OK!
Sarah made no secret of her lack of physical attraction to her new husband on their wedding day and voiced her annoyance at some of his habits during their honeymoon.
The bride later received a telling off from expert Paul for ‘disrespecting’ her spouse during a dinner party, where she confessed to the other contestants that he gave her ‘the ick’.
Relationship expert Mel also reprimanded Sarah for not “taking responsibility” after treating her husband poorly. On this occasion, Sarah had openly swooned over a MAFS producer’s attractiveness in front of Dean.
Dean was left stung by the remark, admitting: “When I heard her say that I was like ‘D*mn is she ever going to say that about me?’ and it kind of triggered something in me.”
He added wistfully: “I just want to hear that said to me from my wife.”
In Wednesday’s (October 8) episode focusing on the in-laws, a friend of Dean voiced fears that the groom might end up looking like “a fool,” given that the newlyweds hadn’t yet shared their first kiss.
Despite cautionary advice from their nearest and dearest, the couple are persisting with their relationship, leading fans to speculate that it’s all part of a strategic plan.
One viewer vented on X: “At this point, I’m thinking he’s [Dean] just saying Sarah’s great to try to justify remaining there to squeeze out more airtime. Very pointless and tedious for viewers. Go home!”
Another chimed in: “People get the ick all the time, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. What is wrong, is pretending you can get over the ick just so you can stay in the process and thus on TV.”
A third exasperated fan pleaded: “Sarah and Dean, it’s enough now! Please write ‘leave’ this week. I’m bored of this.”
While another questioned: “I totally get it that Sarah has no intimate connection with Dean but why the h*ll is she staying in the experiment wasting Dean’s time?”
