The YouTube prankster is currently starring in the BBC’s star-studded Traitors spin-off

*Warning: Contains spoilers for the first two episodes of The Celebrity Traitors*

The Celebrity Traitors burst onto our screens last week, featuring 19 well-known personalities playing as either Faithfuls or Traitors, all vying for a substantial cash prize for charity.

Among the stars attempting to navigate the treacherous waters of deceit and betrayal is YouTube prankster Niko Omilana. Despite being a Faithful, his reputation as an online jester has cast a shadow of doubt over him among his peers.

In the series’ inaugural Round Table, Niko and Kate Garraway found themselves in the hot seat, having received the most votes from their fellow contestants and facing potential expulsion from the castle. The outcome of that vote – and the celebrity who’ll be packing their bags – will be unveiled in tonight’s episode (October 15).

Even though we’re only two episodes deep, Niko has already won the hearts of viewers at home. He even cheekily acknowledged The Traitors’ notorious history of poor spelling by jotting down ‘Tom Daylee’ on his blackboard during the voting session, reports the Daily Record.

Fans who can’t get enough of Niko have the chance to delve deeper into his intriguing past courtesy of his very own Netflix documentary.

The film, aptly titled ‘How I Won The London Mayor Election’, chronicles Niko’s audacious bid for the London Mayor role in 2021, a campaign that resonated with young voters disenchanted with politics. The documentary is also accessible on YouTube completely free of charge.

Among his manifesto pledges was slashing the cost of Freddo chocolate bars to 5p and implementing capital punishment for anyone spotted sporting three-quarter length trousers.

The streaming platform’s description reveals: “Online prankster Niko Omilana recounts the wild but true story of his 2021 campaign to become London’s mayor and shake up the system.”

“Singlehandedly proved that young people DO care and WILL show up when they feel even slightly represented. Big up to this man, just brilliant,” wrote one viewer, whilst another commented: “I’ve watched that video like three times and it’s just better every single time. Hands down the best, and I mean best, video on YouTube.”

A third viewer remarked: “Coming back to this nearly a year later is still mind blowing. Niko may have ran for vibes, but he showed that young people do not have a voice in politics, I truly hope that this was a wake up call for all the politicians. We need a voice.”

The Celebrity Traitors airs Wednesday and Thursday from 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer
