Coronation Street fans were left gobsmacked when James Bailey revealed his age on the popular soap. James, son of Ed and Aggie Bailey and sibling to Dee Dee and Michael, made his debut on the cobbles in 2019.
The family was swiftly thrust into the limelight as patriarch Ed grappled with a gambling addiction. James himself has faced his fair share of challenges, struggling to come out as gay due to his career as a professional footballer for Weatherfield County FC.
His situation took a turn for the worse when he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and subsequently dropped from the team.
Following this, James and his boyfriend, Danny, relocated to the USA, expressing their wish to start a family. A deal was struck with his pregnant sister Dee Dee, who agreed that James could raise her baby.

However, after Danny ended their relationship, Dee Dee had a change of heart, and they decided to co-parent baby Laila together, reports the Liverpool Echo.
More recently, James has been embroiled in a clandestine affair with newcomer Carl Webster, both of whom arrived on the cobbles earlier this year.
Viewers were taken aback by the introduction of a new actor in the role of James Bailey. Jason Callender has taken over the part, previously portrayed by Nathan Graham from 2019 to 2022.
Jason has seamlessly integrated into the street and has been involved in some of the soap’s most pivotal storylines. Recently, a fresh family moved onto the cobbles as the new proprietors of the Rovers Return.
The Driscoll clan consists of Eva Price, her partner Ben Driscoll, and their shared children Eva, Will, and Ollie.
Monday’s episode saw Eva requesting James to conduct a personal training session with Will, who has been finding it tough to adjust to the family’s relocation to Manchester.
But during their conversation, James dropped the bombshell that he was 25 years old, leaving viewers utterly stunned. Given the character’s involvement in numerous intense storylines since joining the soap, fans had assumed he was considerably older.
Viewers flocked to social media following this revelation, with one asking: “25?” Another incredulous fan commented: “In what world am I meant to believe James is 25?!”.
A third viewer pointed out: “Wow James in #Corrie just said he’s 25. The old actor is 34 and the new one is 35.”
The actor joined the programme alongside Jonathan Howard, who portrays Carl Webster, and James Cartwright, who plays Theo Silverton.
