Luke Littler has backed I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestant Angry Ginge to triumph in the jungle, and has hinted at a potential future stint down under himself
Darts sensation Luke Littler has thrown his weight behind his pal ‘Angry Ginge’ to win the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
The 18-year-old darts prodigy, who counts the internet personality – real name Morgan Burtwistle – among his close pals, has also dropped hints about potentially heading Down Under himself in future to conquer the jungle, as he told ITV bosses what it would require.
Burtwistle, 23, a fellow Manchester United fan who rose to fame as a content creator, jetted into Brisbane airport this week ahead of the show’s debut on November 16. Ant and Dec are poised to return to ITV screens come Sunday, with Burtwistle already topping the bookies’ favourites to snatch the jungle crown.
Meanwhile, Littler cruised through to the knockout stages of the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton after demolishing Daryl Gurney 5-1 as his title defence gathered momentum.
He’s now waiting to discover his next Grand Slam rival whilst keeping a close eye on the series kicking off in Australia, reports the Express.
Speaking to SportsBoom, Littler revealed he expects the 23-year-old to fare “very well” when the going gets tough. He said: “I think he’s going to do very well. I’ve known for a very long time. We’ll have to vote him on and see what he has to eat.”
Littler would be an obvious pick for future series of the reality show, and stands ready to sign up – provided TV chiefs are willing to splash the cash to land the darts sensation.
When asked about the possibility of him joining the jungle adventure, he replied: “Maybe… If they come around for the right price. I might go over for a couple weeks.”
Fiery redhead Burtwistle landed in Australia on Monday, greeted by fans and journalists ahead of the show’s start. The 23-year-old admitted he would miss his beloved United and his mum, but he didn’t hold back when addressing the media.
He said: “I did a Duke of Edinburgh bronze award at school so I am not too bad at camping. One of the reasons I vowed to never go to Australia was because of the spiders and animals so I am hoping the hotel is secure.”
In a YouTube video announcing his departure to join the reality TV show, he expressed hopes the Red Devils would win two out of the three matches he’ll miss and be sitting second when he returns in early December.
He said: “Hello there. If you are seeing this, I have officially been announced that I am going in the jungle.
“That’s what I’m praying for. “I’m hoping I come out, Man Utd are second in the league and going for the title… Arsenal are dropping points.”
