Luke Littler will be looking to defend his World Darts Championship title when the showpiece tournament gets underway at Alexandra Palace next month

Piers Morgan has called out Luke Littler, challenging the Nuke to a darts showdown.

The 18-year-old secured another trophy at the weekend by winning the Players Championship Finals in Minehead. He’ll be looking to retain his World Darts Championship crown when the premier tournament kicks off at Alexandra Palace next month.

Littler exploded onto the darts scene two years ago when he made it to the World Championship final as a 16 year old, ultimately falling to Luke Humphries. The youngster then claimed victory at his second attempt earlier this year.

In the lead-up to the 2026 World Championship, tournament backer Paddy Power has launched a campaign supporting Prostate Cancer UK. The Darts of Destiny initiative invites the public to donate to the charity for a chance to step onto the Ally Pally stage during the 2026 World Championship final, reports the Express.

Once on stage, the fortunate participant will receive nine darts. Should they achieve 180 or higher, they’ll pocket a massive £180,000. Morgan, a passionate darts enthusiast, posted a promotional video on X (formerly Twitter) backing the campaign after contributing £500.

The broadcaster declared: “I quite fancy doing this. About time @LukeTheNuke180 came up against Monsoon Morgan.” Morgan previously hosted darts promoter Barry Hearn and his son Eddie Hearn on Piers Morgan Uncensored in April 2024, with the trio taking part in a darts challenge at the oche.

The presenter revealed: “What they don’t know is that I played for the Royal Oak B team – darts legends, as we became – in the village of Newick in East Sussex, where we ended up beating everybody.

“And I was known as ‘Jockey’ Morgan, which I later changed to ‘Monsoon’ Morgan. And there’s a reason – I don’t lose at darts.”

Littler is set to face off against Lithuanian world No.95 Darius Labanauskas in his first match at Ally Pally.

After the draw, the Nuke expressed: “I’m very happy with it. He’s not the quickest player, but it’s all about getting past that first round. It won’t be easy.

“If there are nerves, I know how to cope with them. Last year, I didn’t have a clue how to cope with them. But this year I know what to expect, the expectations. If nerves come, I’ll know how to deal with it.”

He added: “I’ve won the last three Majors now – now the big one is round the corner. I’m just looking forward to it. Gary Anderson was the last person to go back-to-back, but that was 10 years ago. So that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
