Despite years of feuding, Elon Musk tried to enlist rival Mark Zuckerberg to join a £72billion takeover of ChatGPT parent OpenAI, court papers reveal.
Musk, 54, approached the Meta founder earlier this year, according to communications he has disclosed and which have emerged in court filings. Zuckerberg never replied.
OpenAI said it was concerned about the ‘motivations’ for a takeover bid involving two close competitors.
Musk’s feud with Zuckerberg, 41, is said to date back to 2016 when a rocket from Musk’s SpaceX exploded, destroying a satellite belonging to Zuckerberg’s Facebook.

The pair have sniped at each other regularly – and even spoke of a cage fight duel.
Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI last year over its switch to a for-profit model. OpenAI responded with a countersuit in April, and a jury trial is scheduled for early next year.
