Donald Trump’s spin doctor showed off a behind-the-scenes social media clip for her MAGA Minute segment earlier this week — which has been accused of misinformation.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, 27, wore a sleeveless grey dress with black trim accents, paired with beige heels.
She stood on a small wooden platform in front of an American flag, lit by panel lighting equipment and a backdrop bearing the presidential seal, revealing that she may regularly require boxes to boost her height behind the scenes.
Recently, Leavitt gave a rare glimpse into her life as a new mother, posting a photo of her infant son. She shared an image of Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, her son with husband Nicholas Riccio, 59, sleeping peacefully in a cartoon farm-themed baby grow.
The outfit donned the phrase “Home is where my mama is” across the front. Leavitt wrote “This shirt” on Instagram Stories, adding a crying face emoji and a blue heart.
Known for pairing bright statement outfits with a silver cross necklace, she has recently favoured more understated choices in her press briefings.
During a press conference last week, she wore a navy blouse with minimal accessories, leaving off the necklace entirely. Jewellery expert Trang Do, founder of Kim Joux, told The Mirror US that the shift could be deliberate.
Do said: “From a design perspective, silver is a compelling choice. It has a democratic elegance as well as being cool, understated, and versatile.
“It mirrors Karoline’s clean and contemporary style, and unlike gold, which can lean towards opulence, silver feels grounded and intimate. It invites closer inspection rather than demanding attention.”
Do added that the absence of the necklace could carry as much meaning as its presence. She added: “Jewellery often acts as an emotional anchor, so its removal, particularly when noticeable, can reflect a shift.
“In this case, not wearing the cross could signal a moment of quiet transformation. Perhaps it’s a deliberate decision to step away from certain associations, whether religious, cultural, or personal.”
The expert continued, “It might indicate a desire to assert independence from expectations, or even a readiness to embrace vulnerability without the comfort or protection the piece once offered.”
Do acknowledged that the decision could be practical or coincidental, but emphasized Leavitt’s careful image management. She added: “With someone like Karoline, whose choices are often intentional and tightly curated, the decision to forgo a symbolic item like this necklace could be a conscious decision and one that shows her stepping away from a look that we’re previously used to seeing her in.”
