Sue Radford, who has 22 children with husband Noel, was left horrified when she had a pregnancy scare after ditching the pill
Sue Radford left her close friend absolutely stunned when she spilled the beans about how she avoids getting pregnant – and it is not an advised method of contraception.
In the latest episode of 22 Kids And Counting, the 50-year-old telly favourite chatted about relying on the ‘rhythm method’ for birth control before dropping the bombshell about her pregnancy scare.
The rhythm method, also called the calendar method, is a type of natural family planning where you track your monthly cycle to work out when you’re ovulating.
On the programme, Sue’s pal warns her that this approach isn’t exactly foolproof when it comes to preventing pregnancy. Her mate said: “I think it’s really risky for you to stop the pill.”
Sue then faces a pregnancy panic when she approaches hubby Noel to break the news that her period was “late”. Thankfully, it turns out to be just a false alarm.
The pair are already parents to 22 youngsters: Chris, Sophie, Chloe, Jack, Daniel, Luke, Millie, Katie, James, Ellie, Aimee, Josh, Max, Tillie, Oscar, Casper, Hallie, Phoebe, Archie, Bonnie, and Heidie.
Tragically, their 17th child, Alfie, was stillborn in 2014, reports the Mirror. Prior to the pregnancy fright, Sue and Noel, 54, had been adamant that Heidie would be their final addition.
The five-year-old started school for the first time last September, and Sue previously shared how she was relishing having some breathing space with all the children now out of the house.
She revealed: “But I have to confess I did cry when she went to school. It’s such a big moment—your last baby going to school, and you don’t have any more at home. I also love having the house full and bustling.”
Sue also spoke about her milestone 50th birthday being a “big deal”, sharing: “You know what, because I am turning 50, I am definitely having a whole year of celebrations!'”.
Viewers flocked to social media to voice their opinions on the pregnancy scare, with one person commenting: “Sue must be going through the menopause now she cant be pregnant.”
Meanwhile in the episode, their son-in-law Harley was grappling with a different baby-related issue.
Harley, 24, who is wed to their daughter Millie, 23, sought Noel’s guidance regarding a vasectomy, following the arrival of three children within a brief timeframe.
