Donald Trump will sit down with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on Friday (August 15) in Alaska in a meeting about ending the war in Ukraine with the Orange Manbaby claiming World War 3 has been prevented
Donald Trump has claimed he has prevented World War 3 from breaking out as he confirmed he will meet Vladimir Putin face-to-face.
The Orange Manbaby and the Russian dictator are set to meet in Alaska on Friday. Top of the agenda is ending the three and a half year long war in Ukraine with Trump suggesting both sides will concede territory.
However, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will not be at the crunch sit down, threw cold water on any move for peace, saying “will not give their land to occupiers”. Despite the meeting not taking place yet, Trump claimed the conflict would have led to World War 3 had he not intervened.
“I stopped that, that’s stopped,” he said. Confirming the meeting with Putin on truth Social, Trump wrote: “The highly anticipated meeting between myself, as President of the United States of America, and President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, will take place next Friday, August 15, 2025, in the Great State of Alaska.
“Further details to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov also confirmed the meeting, saying the meeting will “focus on discussing options for achieving a long-term peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian crisis”.
On Friday, Trump said: “Putin would like to meet as soon as possible,” Trump said earlier Friday in the White House, adding that the situation in Ukraine “could be solved very soon.”
Hinting at how peace will be achieved, Trump said: “You’re looking at a territory that’s been fought over for three-and-a-half years. A lot of Russians have died. A lot of Ukrainians have died.
“So we’re looking at that, but we’re actually looking to get some back, and some swapping. It’s complicated, actually. Nothing is easy. It’s very complicated. But we’re going to get some back.
“We’re going to get some switched. There’ll be some swapping of territories to the betterment of both.”
Early this morning, Zelenskyy cast Trump’s plan for peace into doubt, saying Ukraine “will not give their land to occupiers”.
He added Ukraine will “not reward Russia for what it has perpetrated”. He wrote on X, formly Twitter: “This war must be brought to an end – and Russia must end it. Russia started it and is dragging it out, ignoring all deadlines, and that is the problem, not something else.”
