Donald Trump was left red-faced during a press conference on Monday after he made a series of bizarre claims – including that “violent” Chinese carp were jumping into US boats
US President Donald Trump made a bizarre assertion during Monday’s press conference, claiming that “violent” Chinese carp were jumping into American boats.
Following the signing of multiple executive orders, Trump bragged about lending Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer – whom he incorrectly called Kristi Whitmer – a “huge favor” regarding the “China carp.”
Trump alleged these invasive species had taken over the Great Lakes.
“She came and she wanted to know if it was possible to do something about it,” Trump revealed. “And I said, ‘Well, I’ll do it,’ but I said I think it is appropriate that the person from Illinois – the Governor from Illinois asks also. It’s a tremendously expensive project, actually. It’s invasive.”

“It’s horrible what’s happened,” the president declared. “And we can do it with GSA and various people, but we can do it. We’re gonna have to see what happens, Ok?”, reports the Mirror US.
“We’re going to have to see what happens,” he repeated. A journalist attempted to point out that Trump possessed the legal powers, but was cut short when the president noted that Whitmer had approached him and “respectfully” sought his help.
According to Trump, Whitmer has performed such an excellent job that he even opened the Air Force base and “kept it open for the F-35s and various planes, F-22s.”
Trump claimed he did this “at her request.”
“Some of this stuff, like the lakes, the great lakes, this is a big problem,” Trump continued. “Nobody ever talks about.
“Most of you have probably never heard. We have a very pretty violent fish that has, uh, comes from China,” the president waffled on.
“China carp, Chinese carp. And uhhhhh you see them jumping out. They jump into boats and they jump all over the place,” Trump went on. “They have a lot of energy.”
Trump claimed there’s a way to get rid of them, but it’s “very expensive.” He also noted that he hadn’t received any plea from the governor of Illinois.
According to Trump, he won’t lift a finger on the fish matter until Governor JB Pritzker requests assistance. A website focusing on invasive species pointed out that carp have been present in the U.S. for more than a century.
“The newest invaders, bighead carp, black carp, grass carp, and silver carp that originated from Asia are collectively known as invasive carp or Asian carp,” the site explains. “These invasive carp species are causing issues in the Mississippi river and surrounding waters. Invasive carp are fast-growing and prolific feeders that out-compete native fish and leave a trail of environmental destruction in their wake.”
The bizarre tirade left countless social media users reeling in disbelief. “Trump is asked about sending the National Guard into states where the government objects. His response is a bizarre rant on Chinese violent carp fish in the Great Lake,” one person observed.
“How is MAGA not speaking out on his lack of competency?” they questioned. “Great…the national guard will be patrolling Lake Michigan with fishing poles soon,” another person scoffed.
A third individual lambasted Trump as “Biden 2.0 in action.”
