Hundreds of passengers were told they were not able to travel after a woman had a violent bout of diarrhoea, leaving people to take to social media to vent their frustrations
A woman has been forced to apologise for grounding a whole flight in the US. The reason for the flight’s cancellation, however, was due to her bout of violent diarrhoea.
Planes are often forced to divert or make emergency landings on a regular basis. This can be due to many things, such as on-board altercations, medical emergencies or a potential technical fault.
However, one flight leaving from the American city of Indianapolis was forced to be cancelled entirely when one of the passengers suffered a serious case of diarrhoea. The resulting mess was so bad, that the offending woman resorted to TikTok to apologise for her actions.
In the incident, according to OutKick, Meghan Reinertsen had been travelling to the city from Portugal in order to attend a film premiere. The writer and actress had been making a living while in Europe as an au pair, but still had close connections to the movie scene in the US.
While she was flying from Portugal back to the States, Meghan fell asleep, hoping the flight would pass quickly and she could carry on with her travels. But midway through the flight, she was awoken to a “disturbance” within her body, knowing that she needed to use the toilet as soon as possible.
After landing at New York’s Newark airport, Meghan barely made it through customs before she headed to the loo before her second flight. However, while she had been able to at least partially relieve herself, there was going to be a lot more to come.
Meghan would end up getting onto the second United Airlines plane when the second need to rush to the bathroom rushed over her. But unlike in the airport where she had time to get into the toilet, she was unable to reach the loo due to the seatbelt sign being on.
Speaking on TikTok about her ordeal, Meghan lamented that she ended up having to get up and run to the toilet, breaking the rules and resulting in the flight being cancelled. She explained: “We all saw that woman that shit up the whole aisle of the Delta flight.
“I want to be clear, no judgment; clearly, I’ve been there,” she joked. “I’m on your side – I’m in support of you, but I couldn’t let that happen to me.”
After deliberately breaking the rules, Meghan would go on to be in the airplane bathroom for another 20 minutes as another attack of diarrhoea hit her. She would then struggle to balance between a stream of excrement or the possibility of throwing up.
Clearly left embarrassed by the entire situation, Meghan would stay in the toilet as the plane landed and all the other passengers disembarked. But little did she know that she would cause chaos for hundreds of unsuspecting passengers.
As a result of her bathroom antics, she was told when she emerged from the toilet that the next scheduled departure on the plane had to be cancelled due to the mess that she had caused. She admitted that specialist cleaners in hazmat suits were needed to deal with the fallout, as she was wheelchaired off the plane and taken to the baggage area.
Meghan would go on to apologise to those she affected as a result of her ordeal, which she says was caused by eating an undercooked burger in Portugal. However, she did try to see the bright side, saying her chaotic travels had left her “glowing”.
