Shocking footage obtained by The Sun reveals for the first time how the aristocratic socialite was systematically trapped and brutally abused by the evil preacher TB Joshua in scenes that will leave readers utterly horrified.
The astonishing revelations provide an unprecedented insight into the disastrous downfall that saw her fall from being a pampered, globe-trotting darling of Tatler to becoming one of Britain’s most heartless, negligent and thoroughly deluded mothers. The news comes as Constance Marten and rapist partner Mark Gordon are imprisoned for killing a baby.
In a harrowing 30-minute testimony given shortly after her dramatic escape, the tormented aristocrat made spine-chilling confessions about life within the compound – including armed guards with guns stationed at every exit, followers being dragged from their beds at 4am for cruel psychological torment sessions, and the perverse preacher infiltrating her actual dreams, reports the Express.
The earth-shattering disclosures emerge as Marten, 38, and her rapist partner Mark Gordon, 51 – whom she disgustingly called “daddy bear” – were both slapped with 14-year prison sentences for the horrific death of their helpless newborn daughter Victoria.
The callous pair fled with their vulnerable infant, sleeping rough in freezing conditions to dodge social services before they heartlessly dumped her lifeless body in a Lidl Bag for Life like discarded rubbish.
From riches to ruin
The twisted couple had already witnessed four other children tragically removed from their care by family courts following their catastrophic failure to provide even basic protection.
Marten became entangled with the sinister Christian preacher TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) in Nigeria as a vulnerable 19 year old back in 2006, remaining trapped there for approximately six torturous months.
She was eventually kicked out of the corrupt church, with TB Joshua making the outlandish accusation that she was a “CIA spy”, before she managed to finish her university education.
The troubled aristocrat later secured work as a researcher at the Al Jazeera news channel, where she desperately attempted to create a documentary exposing the horrific Scoan cult.
Devastating confession
Years later, she was recorded delivering her devastating account about the utterly appalling abuse followers endured under the manipulative preacher. In a particularly distressing video, a visibly upset Marten confessed: “We were in the church for six, seven months. And when I came out I was a completely different person, I was unsocial, I couldn’t talk to people, I couldn’t find anything funny, I was really shy.
“My whole character switched. And that was only being in there for six months.
“Now I’ve got friends who have been there for five/ six/ seven/ eight years and if they ever realise he was a phony I honestly don’t think they’d be able to carry on living a normal life.
“I definitely don’t think they’d be able to integrate back into society easily.
“And these are young people whose lives have just been wasted inside a compound where they don’t leave and I think that’s exceptionally sad.
“Because I don’t think they want to live that way and if they do it certainly wasn’t their intention, they got trapped in it.
“And I don’t dispute he’s a very intelligent man, the way that he’s gone about it, he knows his stuff.”
Psychological torment and exhaustion tactics
When questioned about witnessing horrific mistreatment, she revealed chilling details: “It’s all mental abuse. It’s a breakdown of your character that you don’t realise and whenever we had these secret meetings at 4 o’clock he used to say a name of any one of the disciples and everyone would make them stand up.
“This is in front of a hundred people, all the disciples. And you’re kind of half asleep. There’s a lot of sleep deprivation that goes on. You hardly get about three hours sleep. Some people got one hour of sleep a night because they were constantly working.
“And he’d make them stand up and everyone was allowed to stand up and hack that person’s character to pieces and say ‘oh this person’s this, this person’s that’.
“It would really break someone down so they’d become more and more attached to daddy and it was the only way they could become a wholesome person, so there was a lot of mental playing around with.
“Nothing so much physical. A lot of the Nigerian girls said physical things went on with them but I don’t think he would dare touch a white person.
“He knows that we could get out in the press. His story, he claims he was in his mother’s womb for 15 months.”
Armed prison: No escape from cult compound
When questioned whether followers were permitted to depart, she made the spine-chilling disclosure: “No, there’s armoured guides outside each of the doors. There’s guides with guns outside each of the main entrances and exits.
“And TB Joshua, Daddy, would say that’s for our own safety because the streets in Nigeria are so dangerous.
“I remember I was meant to go on my gap year with my best friend.
“We bought our flight tickets and I didn’t tell her I was stuck in this place because there was no way of speaking.
“I once tried to sneak into the internet department to try email my mum and the next day I got called into Daddy’s office.
“Someone had obviously seen or there was a camera that saw me and I got in trouble.”
‘Reckless and grossly negligent’
Marten has become infamous as one of Britain’s most heartless and irresponsible mothers, after she launched a frantic bid to stop her fifth defenceless child from being placed into care by social services.
An enormous 54-day hunt was mounted for the fleeing pair after their burning car was discovered abandoned on the M61 motorway in Greater Manchester on January 5, 2023.
Officers only realised she had delivered another baby when they made the disturbing discovery of a placenta bundled in a towel, “new baby” nappies, and infant clothing, alongside “burner phones” and her passport.
An urgent manhunt for the missing individuals was immediately launched as the panicked couple began a nationwide trek, with CCTV footage carefully monitoring their movements.
Prosecutor Tom Little KC delivered a damning assessment, declaring the case concerned a “young baby girl who undoubtedly would still be alive if it was not for the reckless and ultimately grossly negligent conduct of the two defendants in the dock”.
He pressed on with his withering critique: “They were the parents of that young baby girl, but they put their relationship and their views of life before the life of that little baby girl.
“Rather than act in the obvious best interest of a vulnerable baby, because all babies are vulnerable when they are but some days old, they decided as they had often done before that they knew best, they knew better than anyone else.
“They decided to ignore the advice they had previously been given and decide that in the middle of winter and in obviously dangerous conditions they would deprive their baby of what she needed – warmth, shelter protection, food and ultimately one word – safety.”
A shocking pattern of abandoned infants emerged throughout the proceedings.
The courtroom was stunned to learn that Marten and Gordon had welcomed five children in merely seven years, with four youngsters already removed and placed under protective supervision.
Marten delivered Victoria without any medical assistance in early 2022 and concealed her birth from officials as “their little secret”.
Throughout the dramatic proceedings, disturbing revelations surfaced regarding Gordon’s previous convictions in America, encompassing a string of appalling sexual crimes – including rape.
When just 14 years old, Gordon invaded his neighbouring property with his identity masked by a nylon stocking, carrying a blade and garden shears.
He compelled the petrified victim to remove her clothing and tried to sexually assault her before carrying out the dreadful crimes in the April 1989 ordeal. In a separate incident on 21 May the same year, the depraved Gordon forced his way into another property armed with a spade and savagely assaulted a man inside.
This menacing offender received an extraordinary 40-year prison sentence in the US, spending 22 years locked up.
In 2017, Gordon was convicted of attacking two female police constables at a maternity ward in Wales.
The jury remained unaware that Gordon was also suspected of a horrific domestic violence episode in 2019 that left Marten with a ruptured spleen.
Gordon had cruelly barred paramedics from entering their London flat.
She endured eight excruciating days in hospital before attempting to discharge herself, allegedly with Gordon’s malevolent encouragement.
Desperate flight: £19k trust fund fuels escape
When Marten fell pregnant she concealed it as a fatal secret following a family court decision that any baby would be instantly taken from them.
The pair abandoned their home, cruelly leaving behind their family cat Sasha confined in a box, approximately £2,000 in cash, 34 “burner” phones and other possessions.
From Liverpool the frantic duo paid a taxi driver £350 to ferry them 270 miles to Harwich in Essex.
Officers said their motive for choosing this destination remains a mystery, though it’s believed they may have been scheming to escape the country by sea.
They also paid £475 for a taxi journey to Newhaven in East Sussex on January 8, 2023. Marten, who hails from the esteemed Dorset estate Crichel House, received nearly £19,000 in payments into her account from the trust while on the lam.
Her father served as a page to the late Queen, whilst her grandmother was a goddaughter to the Queen Mother.
In the midst of a “cold winter and in cruel and obviously dangerous weather conditions”, the duo “essentially went off-grid”. With barely any food, Marten and Gordon remained fugitives, failed to seek medical help or even register the birth as they moved from one place to another.
CCTV trail: Petrol and cremation plot
CCTV cameras meticulously traced the pair’s movements as they took shelter in a tent with hardly any clothing and no means of staying warm and dry.
On January 12 last year, Marten was caught on camera filling up a bottle with petrol before purchasing three packs of Jacob’s Mini Cheddars and a newspaper.
It is thought she planned to cremate baby Victoria after discovering her lifeless inside her coat but later reconsidered.
As temperatures plummeted to dangerous lows, Marten and Gordon opted to camp in “obviously dangerous conditions” with “totally insufficient and inadequate clothing and equipment for the baby”.
Tragic discovery: Baby found dead in shopping bag
Police finally tracked down the elusive couple in Brighton on February 27, but they refused to disclose the whereabouts of the newborn.
Tragically, Victoria was already lying dead in the shopping bag – hidden beneath nappies and refuse like discarded rubbish.
Shocking bodycam footage showed the dramatic moment officers swooped to arrest Marten and Gordon.
Police Sergeant Robert Button approached the father initially, instructing him to halt.
When questioned about the reason, the officer explained: “Well because potentially I think you may have been in the national news.”
Gordon brazenly moaned about being famished and “not doing anything”, causing Marten to intervene, begging: “Stop with him please, he’s not well.”
The mother persisted with her appeal: “Oh my god, I can’t watch. Leave him alone. Let him eat his food. He’s starving.”
Victoria’s body was too badly deteriorated to establish how she died.
Nevertheless, prosecutors contended that the pair’s behaviour – subjecting their infant to freezing conditions in a tent – amounted to gross negligence, proposing Victoria may have perished from hypothermia or been accidentally smothered.
Courtroom theatrics featured fake ailments and air-blown kisses
The accused maintained their daughter’s death was a devastating mishap after Marten dozed off on her.
During her police questioning, Marten wept as she claimed the infant’s death was a heartbreaking accident.
She revealed: “I had her in my jacket and I hadn’t slept properly in quite a few days and erm, I fell asleep holding her sitting up and she, when I woke up, she wasn’t alive.”
The pair maintained their charade in court, frequently feigning illness to dodge hearings and sacking their barristers. They were repeatedly reprimanded for conversing during the trials and were often spotted exchanging affectionate gestures like blowing kisses at each other.
