Married at First Sight UK viewers were left in tears after one of the brides shared her “complicated” family story, which included the tragic loss of her father
Married at First Sight UK viewers were left sobbing after a bride shared her “complicated” background, including a heartbreaking tragedy.
Wednesday’s (24 September) episode of MAFS UK witnessed two additional couples tying the knot, including Julia-Ruth and Divarni.
Professional dancer Julia-Ruth, 29, revealed in her introductory segment how she was adopted as a small child, before tragically losing her father to illness when she was just 15.
“My family tree is so complicated. I was born in South Africa and I was adopted really, really young,” she revealed. “He was the best. My dad, he loved me so much and I was his little princess.”
“I think he would’ve given me the world and he would’ve done anything for me,” Julia-Ruth continued, struggling to hold back her emotions, reports OK!.
She added: “When I was about 14, my dad got sick. It’s really hard to see the person that you care about the most, get so sick. I didn’t get enough time with him.
“He passed away when I was 15. It was just weird to see him, then 30 minutes later he’s not there anymore.”
Julia-Ruth then disclosed that her sister took her in after her father’s passing, explaining how she now enjoys an incredibly tight relationship with both her sister and brother-in-law.
Viewers watching from home were moved to tears by the heartfelt revelation, with one person posting on X: “Her sister adopted her when her dad died? This is too much! #MAFSUK.”
“Fair play to Julia’s sister for stepping up and adopting Julia. That’s amazing. #MAFSUK,” one viewer commented, while another posted: “I’m still thinking about julia-ruth’s family backstory.”
Julia-Ruth later made her way down the aisle to meet her groom, Divarni, and it was clear that both were pleased with their pairing.
Divarni, a 29 year old musician from London, was visibly taken aback by his bride as she approached him, even confessing to the camera that he felt it was “love at first sight”.
The couple exchanged vows and rings in front of delighted friends and family, before setting off to spend some quality time together.
In other news, Joe, a 31 year old from Huddersfield, tied the knot with Maeve, 29, from Newcastle, but their connection wasn’t quite mutual. Joe quickly confessed that his bride wasn’t his type, while Maeve was instantly smitten with her new husband.
Married at First Sight UK airs on E4.
