ITV’s Olivia Atwood’s Bad Boyfriends will return this month with a series two line-up featuring one gay couple and the host said it was a “no brainer” to include them
Olivia Attwood-Dack has revealed “it was no brainer” to feature a same-sex couple in the second series of Bad Boyfriends.
The ITV2 reality programme returns this month with fresh faces exasperated partners determined to transform their wayward other halves.
Confirmation has emerged that a gay couple will appear in the forthcoming series, much to host Olivia’s delight.
At last month’s ITV Reality event, the presenter revealed: “It was a no brainer. We wanted one last series but you know what it’s like with these things.
“I think as viewers people kind of forget how much goes into finding couples. It’s a very specific thing they’re looking for.”, reports the Mirror.
“You’re looking for couples with real history, a real relationship with issues there and they’re willing to bring them to camera. There’s so many layers to that.”
She added: “It wasn’t an intent discussion not to have one in series one, we just didn’t find a couple that fitted what we needed for the show.
“This series there was a couple that made sense and they wanted to share their story with us and they’re amazing.”
When questioned about potential spin-offs, Olivia admitted: “I’m open to it. I’ve been a bad girlfriend, I would have been the star of Bad Girlfriends. I could be on Bad Wives.”
Bayley claimed victory in the inaugural series after being duped into vying for the crown of “most-improved boyfriend” by Anya. Olivia revealed that the cast are “naughtier” in this series and confessed to finding it difficult to remain impartial.
The Loose Women panellist shared: “It’s really hard and I walk that fine line everyday during this series. I don’t want it to feel like I’m ever condoning any kind of behaviour that’s not acceptable.”
She added: “Also, these are adult people in their own relationships and I’m not there to play God and tell people what they should and shouldn’t tolerate.
“I have my feelings about people in the show at various points and I kind of let that be known, but I also have a huge amount of respect for every single person in the process and I feel a huge amount of protectiveness over them.”
Drawing from her own experiences, she said: “I have also been contributor myself on a reality TV show, more than once, so I can feel it from all the different angles.”
