A 12-foot statue of President Donald Trump and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein holding hands appeared at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. early Tuesday, sparking outrage among Trump supporters

A controversial 12-foot statue depicting former President Donald Trump and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein holding hands emerged on the National Mall in Washington, D. C. early Tuesday, causing a stir among Trump’s supporters.

The provocative faux-bronze artwork portrays the two figures hand-in-hand, sporting broad grins. Three plaques are also displayed at the base of the statue, declaring that the piece was installed “in honour of friendship month.

“We celebrate the long-lasting bond between President Donald J. Trump and his ‘closest friend’ Jeffrey Epstein,” one of the plaques states, accompanied by an image of a heart made with hands.

The identity of the person or group who commissioned the statue remains unknown. However, the anonymous artist behind the work told HuffPost on Tuesday that the statue speaks for itself, reports the Mirror US.

“No one else publicly that we know of partied with Donald Trump, travelled with Donald Trump and visited Mar-a-Lago just as a friend, not just as an associate. Since this is Friendship Month, we wanted to celebrate what is presumably, at least publicly, Donald Trump’s only true friend,” the artist explained.

The White House swiftly responded to the appearance of the contentious artwork, dismissing it as a waste of money and attributing its creation to liberals.

“Liberals are free to squander their money however they deem appropriate- but it’s no revelation that Epstein knew Donald Trump, because Donald Trump expelled Epstein from his club for being a creep,” a White House spokeswoman informed The Mirror US.

“Democrats, the media, and the organisation that’s squandering their money on this statue were aware of Epstein and his victims for years and did nothing to assist them, while President Trump was advocating for transparency, and is now delivering on it with thousands of pages of documents,” she continued.

In 2019, when Epstein was apprehended on federal sex trafficking charges, Trump – who was then in his first term as president – informed reporters that he was “not a fan of his, that I can tell you. I was not a fan of his.”

Trump claimed that the two had a disagreement and hadn’t spoken since 2004 because Epstein “stole” young women who were employed at his Mar-a-Lago spa in Palm Beach.
