Strictly Come Dancing star Oti Mabuse has opened up about the upcoming series of the BBC ballroom show

Oti Mabuse has hinted that the forthcoming series of Strictly could be “one of the best we’ve seen”.

The former professional dancer on the BBC ballroom extravaganza is now working behind the scenes as a choreographer for the show.

Speaking about the upcoming series during a chat on BBC Breakfast, she enthused: “I think it’s going to be a great series – there are so many ups and downs and it has potential to be one of the best, I think, that we’ve seen yet.”

Oti, who became a mum with husband Marius Iepure in 2023, disclosed she would be crafting some of the spectacular routines featured later in the competition, reports Wales Online.

“They are huge and they’re a huge deal because I mean, the team, we start talking about them already in June/July,” she revealed.

“I think the team really wants to make sure that it’s a brilliant series, so every year they want to make them bigger and better so everyone can enjoy them. Because they’re such a huge part of the show.”

“I love it,” she gushed about her role on Strictly. “You know, working with the professionals, they’re absolutely incredible. They are so talented and hard-working.

“So just being able to still be creative, still meet up with people that I love and absolutely adore working with, and then dip out again.”

The professional dancer was also quizzed about who she reckoned would shine amongst this year’s celebrity line-up, which features Love Island favourite Dani Dyer, RuPaul’s Drag Race sensation La Voix, broadcaster Ross King, Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis, and rugby star Chris Robshaw. But she disclosed she was keeping that information under wraps for the time being.

“I said it to people, and now people think I’m campaigning for them, and so I feel bad because there are so many celebrities and I haven’t mentioned their name,” she explained.

“I’m going to wait and watch, and then I’m going to do a big TikTok about it,” she hinted.

Strictly Come Dancing 2025 kicks off on BBC One on Saturday, September 20.

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One.
