The Apprentice’s Thomas Skinner is one of the fifteen celebrities taking part in the 23rd series of Strictly Come Dancing. Here’s everything you need to know about the star

The 23rd series of Strictly Come Dancing is set to waltz onto our screens this weekend, with a fresh batch of fifteen celebrities preparing to strut their stuff on the dance floor.

This year’s star-studded line-up includes Love Island’s Dani Dyer, I’m a Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison, footballing legend Karen Carney and former Emmerdale actor Lewis Cope.

The tenth celebrity to be revealed for the series was The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner.

Upon his announcement, Thomas expressed his excitement, saying: “I’m beyond excited to be joining Strictly Come Dancing. I’ve tackled the boardroom and some big breakfasts in my time but stepping onto the dance floor under that glitter ball is next level stuff!

“I’ve never danced in my life (other than at weddings) but I’m ready to graft and of course have a laugh. Bring on the sequins, sambas and most importantly, the BOSH to the ballroom!”

As we eagerly await the launch show tomorrow (Saturday, September 20), here’s everything you need to know about Thomas, reports Essex Live.

How old is Thomas Skinner?

Thomas is 34 years old, hailing from Romford. He received a full sports scholarship to Brentwood School, Essex, before turning his hand to market trading at the tender age of 16.

The star previously revealed that he has dyslexia, which hasn’t held him back in his career.

“I’m dyslexic, I can’t even fill out a form and I’m no good at paperwork but it didn’t matter, and it really helped me build my career,” he shared with Essex Live.

What is Thomas Skinner best known for?

Thomas burst onto television screens on The Apprentice in 2019, quickly establishing himself as one of the series’ standout personalities.

After departing the famous boardroom, Thomas has graced numerous TV programmes, featuring on Celebrity MasterChef, 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Wheel, Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, Good Morning Britain and Faking It.

The celebrity has also built a substantial social media presence, regularly posting motivational content, which culminated in his first book being published in 2023.

Thomas Skinner’s family struggles

Thomas was recently in the headlines after revealing that he cheated on his wife, Sinead, just weeks after they got married in 2022. The couple now share son Henry and twin daughters Roma and Darla together.

Reflecting on his affair, Thomas described the incident as “the biggest mistake” of his life, as reported by The Sun.

“My wife is my rock. She’s the person I adore more than anything in the world and I let her down,” he said.

“I’m ashamed. I’m so fortunate my wife’s forgiven me. She didn’t deserve it. I was a selfish person.”

Has Thomas Skinner been involved in Strictly controversy?

Last week, Thomas walked out of the BBC dance competition’s first press event ahead of the show’s launch this weekend.

The star left the event at Elstree Studios after speaking to journalists who were interviewing him, alongside former Chelsea footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

Thomas reportedly objected to being taped and grabbed a reporter’s phone before walking out of the interview, according to the Mail Online.

Thomas later issued a statement on the incident, explaining: “During one of the interviews, a journalist placed their phone on the table to record the conversation.

“I happened to catch a glimpse of the screen and saw numerous messages – not about Strictly, but about a personal story from my past.”

Following the incident, the broadcaster told the Mirror: “The BBC is very clear that any behaviour which falls below the standards expected will not be tolerated on our programmes.”
