The Traitors’ celebrity spin-off has officially begun, and fans of the BBC game show are already obsessed with the new series
The civilian version had viewers hooked, and it appears the celebrity edition of The Traitors is set to be equally popular with telly enthusiasts.
The inaugural celebrity series of the hit game show premiered on BBC One on Wednesday (8 October), drawing in a whopping 6.1 million live viewers, with many taking to social media to sing its praises.
Shot earlier this year at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, Celebrity Traitors features 19 celebs battling it out in the intense game, with big names like Paloma Faith, Tom Daley, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Church all making appearances.
The opening episode saw host Claudia Winkleman unveil the first three Traitors: Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns.
However, fans reckon Jonathan may have already sabotaged his chances of progressing far in the game due to a glaring error he made, reports the Daily Record.
The trio of chosen celebrities were tasked with ‘murdering’ someone in plain sight. But during a chat with Joe Marler, Jonathan seemed to forget about his shield, which didn’t go unnoticed by Joe.
Viewers are convinced that Jonathan has inadvertently revealed his secret by forgetting his shield, but they’ll have to tune into tonight’s (9 October) episode to see if Joe spills the beans.
On social media, many highlighted the gaffe. One viewer posted on X: “Can we talk about how Jonathan Ross just gave the game away by FORGETTING he has a shield #CelebrityTraitors.
“Joe Marler 100% clocked this from Jonathan Ross and will bring up how suspicious it is that a ‘faithful’ would forget that they had shield, right? #CelebrityTraitors,” one viewer predicted, while another noted: “Jonathan forgot he had a shield #CelebrityTraitors.”
Some fans were thrilled that Jonathan and Alan were chosen as Traitors, finding their partnership highly entertaining.
“Nah celebrity traitors is actually so funny, Alan Carr is making me laugh so much and Jonathan Ross as a traitor as well, absolute genius, oh I am so looking forward to this season #CelebrityTraitors,” one fan expressed.
