Celebrity Traitors has started, with 19 stars arriving at the castle in Scotland for the much-loved BBC show
Kate Garraway has confessed that Celebrity Traitors’ first instalment left her feeling “mortified” after she saw what her fellow contestants had been whispering behind her back.
The BBC One show’s celebrity edition launched on Wednesday (October 8), with 19 famous faces descending upon the legendary Scottish fortress to tackle the beloved game show. Under presenter Claudia Winkleman’s guidance, household names including Jonathan Ross, Alan Carr, Charlotte Church, Cat Burns, Tom Daley, Celia Imrie and other celebrities are battling to secure up to £100,000 for their chosen charities.
Audiences will be aware that Good Morning Britain star Kate isn’t among the Traitors following the debut episode, yet her celebrity colleagues remained unconvinced – with several harbouring doubts about her, reports the Mirror.

During one particular moment, Clare Balding was discussing Kate when she remarked to Charlotte following the Traitors’ selection: “There’s someone who’s overdoing it on the reaction.”
Charlotte responded: “Interesting.”
Further into the programme, following Kate’s victory in securing an immunity shield, actress Ruth Codd confided to several other cast members: “I’m not certain at all but I am suspicious of Kate a little bit.”
When Tom observed that she hadn’t displayed her shield throughout the challenge – where contestants could sacrifice their shield to advance the group’s progress in the task – Ruth elaborated: “I just think ordinarily she would strike me as the type of person who would give up a shield.”
Chatting with co-host Ed Balls and entertainment guest Melvin Odoom on Good Morning Britain, Kate revealed: “It’s fascinating because I didn’t know what they’d all been saying about me yesterday. Mortifying! I’m with you on this journey.”
She continued: “The first task we had to do was pull up at the ceremony, there were grave stones with all our names on and we had to dig in the soil to find out shield.
“I was amazed at just how much I lost all respect and dignity. I went like a frenzy, like some crazy Labrador Retriever.”
Kate then expressed her surprise that some of her co-stars suspected her of being a Traitor. “What I didn’t realise, until last night, is right from the get go – people thought it was me,” she admitted.
“I thought they thought I was a delight!”
The Celebrity Traitors continues tonight (Thursday October 9) at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
