The Manchester United fan who made a bonkers hair vow has made a dramatic change to his look after Ruben Amorim’s side beat Sunderland – kicking off a new run of victories … to one
Manchester United fan Frank Ilett, known more famously as the United Strand, celebrated the victory over Sunderland by making a dramatic change to his already bonkers look.
Frank has gone viral over the past year after pledging not to cut his hair until United win five games in a row. Now, more than 365 days after he started the challenge, the Red Devils are yet to even win two games back-to-back in that time.
But Frank has clearly been given some hope after Ruben Amorim’s side beat Sunderland 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday thanks to goals from Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko – kicking off a new run of victories to one.
Frank marked the one-year anniversary by blowing out a number one candle on a cake, before admitting that the feat is not something he should be celebrating. Instead, he marked the occasion by dyeing his hair red.
Taking to his vlogging TikTok page, which has 62.4k followers, opposed to his daily update page that has 300k followers, Frank revealed the large amount of requests he’s had to dye his hair, and he was all too happy to do so.
Showing just how long his hair has grown since the start of the challenge, Frank then applied the temporary red dye, with the United fan to be donating his hair to The Little Princess Trust, when the challenge is completed (at some point it will be!)
After washing and drying his hair back into its iconic afro style, Frank revealed the final product, to which some fans in the comments section compared the new colour to Paul Scholes, but the curls to Marouane Fellaini.
Frank has received plenty of support not just from United fans, but fans around the country, especially given his pledge to donate his hair to an incredibly worthy cause when the day comes that he can finally ditch the locks.
However, he was attacked at Old Trafford following the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Chelsea last month by someone claiming that Frank was not a United fan.
A video posted to social media showed Frank interacting with fans in good humour and smiling at an older, bald fan. But the other supporter then started grabbing his hair, seemingly in a jovial way at first, but then apparently refusing to let go.
It soon became apparent that the fan was pulling his hair and can be seen on the footage attempting to shove Frank to the ground.
But Frank didn’t appear to let the attack get him down too much, as he celebrated the victory on social media, saying: “What a place. Wet hair, but still a smile on my face! A big win today! What a crazy game it was in the end! 1 down, 4 to go. COME ON UNITED!”
