Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke was unaware he was being filmed during Saturday’s live show on BBC One
Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke was caught off guard during Saturday’s live broadcast on BBC One (October 11) when he didn’t realise the cameras were rolling.
The third week of performances featured 13 celebrities strutting their stuff on the dance floor following The Apprentice’s Thomas Skinner’s departure from the show last Saturday (October 4) with professional partner Amy Dowden.
Soap legend Stefan Dennis was forced to pull out of this week’s live show due to illness, resulting in fewer performances than anticipated.
After Gladiators champion Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and dance partner Karen Hauer delivered their Lion King-inspired routine to ‘I Always Wanted A Brother’ from the film Mufasa, the pair chatted with presenter Claudia Winkleman in the studio about their dance.
But when the cameras switched back to the judging panel for their verdicts, co-presenter Tess Daly was forced to alert Anton that they were broadcasting live as the judge continued his conversation, completely oblivious to being on air, reports Wales Online.
The precise nature of Anton’s chat with Tess remains a mystery, though viewers could catch him saying: “Is that too much? I can’t help myself.”
Tess swiftly stepped in, placing her hand on Anton and declaring, “We’re on,” whilst gesturing towards the camera.
“Sorry,” Anton replied as he quickly spun round to face the lens, with both hosts erupting into giggles.
“We were chatting,” Anton acknowledged as Tess kept grinning whilst bringing in Lewis Cope. Strictly viewers were quick to spot the gaffe, with one fan tweeting: “Oh Anton #strictly #StrictlyComeDancing”, accompanied by a crying emoji.
Another quipped: “‘Poppy why are you an Anton fan?’ Here’s your answer x #strictly.”
A third added: “Anton’s mouth scares me #Strictly.”
Saturday night saw fierce competition on the dance floor, with former Emmerdale actor Lewis and his partner Katya storming to the top of the leaderboard with 37 points after their electrifying Paso Doble.
Hot on their heels were Amber and Nikita with 35 points, while Harry and Karen secured third place.
However, it was a disappointing night for Ross and Jowita who found themselves at the bottom of the pack after their Thunderbirds-themed Paso Doble earned them just 19 points from the judges.
