Coleen Nolan says she has ‘learnt to be on her own’ after splitting from her former partner, leading her to enjoy ‘some of the best years’ since being alone

Coleen Nolan made a deeply personal bedroom revelation that left her feeling “insecure”. This comes as Coleen recently shared that the past few years have been “some of the best” since she “learned to be on my own again”.

The 60-year-old split from former boyfriend Michael Jones nearly 12 months ago. Coleen has since moved to the countryside, beginning a fresh chapter on a farm in North Staffordshire.

Before Michael, the Loose Women panellist had walked down the aisle twice – first to EastEnders star Shane Richie from 1990 to 1999, then to Ray Fensome from 2007 to 2018. During a recent Loose Women: Just Between Us podcast episode, a listener contacted the show asking about their partner’s desire to watch pornography in the bedroom.

This prompted Coleen to disclose that a previous partner had wanted to view explicit material “every time” they were intimate. She explained: “I think if you go, ‘Oh let’s get a takeaway and put porn on’, that’s completely wrong, that’s cringe, but if you just happen to put it on and don’t make a big deal out of it, it’s amazing how quickly you’re both into it.

“Some women aren’t, some men aren’t, then that’s fine, but then at least you can say ‘I tried it and it does nothing for me and it makes me feel insecure’ and that’s another conversation.”

Coleen shared: “Where they have to meet in the middle is, that doesn’t mean every time they have sex he wants to put porn on, because that also happened to me and in the end that makes you feel really insecure because then you think, ‘Can we only have sex if there’s porn on?’

“If you both agree it together that’s fine but if every time you go, which was happening to me at the time, he’d put porn on, and I’m thinking, ‘Oh I’m just the vessel that’s here while you watch that’. It was like, ‘No, no, no, that’s completely over the top and not what I want.'”

Recently, Coleen confessed that she has been “forced out of my comfort zone” by being alone in her sixties. In a piece for the Daily Record, she expressed: “Connection with others is so important for our happiness and wellbeing, especially as we get older.”

The television personality was responding to a reader who felt they had a “giant hole” in their life due to a lack of interest in romantic relationships in their sixties. Coleen reassured: “You’re only 60 – the same age as me – and I can tell you it’s not too late to make changes and discover new things.

“The past few years have been some of the best of my life. I got divorced and I learned to be on my own again, and it forced me out of my comfort zone.”

Just last month, Coleen was brimming with joy as she announced the arrival of a new family member, revealing that her daughter Ciara Fensome had given birth to a baby boy. This happy news arrived just a year after Ciara accepted a proposal from Maxx Innes in Vietnam.

Ciara’s baby marks Coleen’s third time becoming a grandmother, as she already dotes on her son Shane Jr’s daughter, Amelia, born in 2016, and her younger son, Jake’s little boy, who arrived last year.

Sharing snaps of her daughter cradling her newborn son, an emotional Coleen penned: “Hi everyone, I’m almost lost for words (yes, I know totally not the usual me) and I can barely describe the unbelievable range of emotions I’m feeling right now – love, pride, relief, happiness to name a few.

“Because here he is, Sidney Ray Innes, my beautiful baby grandson, born 29/10/25 A whopping 9lb10, so we’re all pleased it was a planned c-section Mum, Dad and baby doing very well.”
