Emmerdale fans were left “cringing” over a Kev Townsend twist on Tuesday (November 18) as they were forced to “fast forward”.
ITV soap viewers will know that Robert Sugden’s (Ryan Hawley) secret prison husband, Kev (Chris Coghill), recently arrived in the village, much to his ex-husband Aaron Dingle’s (Danny Miller) frustration.
Kev told Robert that he was released on compassionate grounds as he had terminal illness with only months to live.
However, local GP Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) has since uncovered the truth about Kev’s condition, which isn’t as life-limiting as he made it out to be.
Not long after Kev and Robert renewed their vows, Robert broke things off with his distraught spouse, who has since been trying to patch things up between them.

During tonight’s episode, Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) threw Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) a housewarming party at Dale View, with several of the villagers in attendance.
As the festivities got underway, Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) took to the karaoke machine with a Spice Girls hit, but the mood instantly shifted when Kev walked in.
Robert and Aaron were stunned when Kev arrived and decided to do drunken karaoke. In an attempt to get his husband back, the ex-convict began singing Daniel Bedingfield’s 2002 love anthem If You’re Not the One.
The rest of the group looked on in horror as the song continued, with Kev soon feeling rejected and leaving the party with Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson).
Robert later went to check on Kev, and soon found himself promising to be there for him when the end comes, leaving Kev delighted and Aaron less so.
After watching the episode, several Emmerdale fans quickly took to social media to share their shock at Kev’s impromptu attempt at karaoke.
“Okay but Kev singing will defo be in my nightmares tonight,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter), with another adding: “I haven’t laughed that much in ages.”
A third said: “Honestly I can’t stop watching it. It’s so cringe it’s hilarious and Aaron’s cocky facial expressions are amazing. Crying with laughter.”
A fourth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: “Was cringing so much I had to fast forward,” with another similarly sharing: “I couldn’t cope with the singing. Kev is so unpredictable which is scary.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
