Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has reportedly spent £30,000 on a guard dog after being subjected to death threats following his £130million move from Newcastle United
Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has reportedly splashed out £30,000 on a guard dog following a series of death threats.
Reports suggest the Swedish forward is set to welcome a specially-trained Doberman as protection away from the football pitch whilst he adjusts to life on Merseyside. This comes after the abuse he has endured since his £130million transfer from Newcastle United during the summer window.
Isak faced criticism after effectively downing tools to force his switch to Anfield. The 26-year-old, along with his Sweden international colleagues, also received death threats on social media following their bottom-place finish in their 2026 World Cup qualifying group.
A source told the Sun: “Alexander has had a very high-profile summer thanks to the drawn-out transfer to Liverpool and the high price the club paid for him.
“He wants to get settled off the pitch and getting a protection dog is an essential part of that.”
Phoenix Dogs, which claims there is “nothing more loyal” than a protection dog, is supplying the Doberman to Isak.
The company described her as “beautiful inside and out” and a “fabulous beast”.
Isak joins a growing list of footballers purchasing guard dogs amid a wave of break-ins and robberies targeting players’ homes.
Marcus Rashford, Kyle Walker and Jack Grealish all own protection hounds.
Back in September, Isak stated that people don’t have the “full picture” regarding the circumstances of his move from Newcastle to Liverpool. Speaking to the Swedish press, he said: “Not everyone has the full picture, but that’s something for another day.
“That’s part of football. I can’t control everything that is said or written but I’m glad I became a Liverpool player. That’s what I wanted and I’m happy about that.
“There is a lot to discuss, and it can be discussed for a long time. It has been educational, and I’m happy with the final result.
“I’m happy and proud to be a Liverpool player. I don’t want to go into details or talk about that situation too much.
“It is a closed chapter, but I have never had any problems.”
