The M6 is currently closed northbound between J8 M5 and J9 due to a crash involving multiple vehicles
Motorists on the M6 have been warned to expect significant delays this morning (Wednesday, November 19) due to a multi-vehicle pile-up. National Highways West Midlands broke the news of the smash just before 7am.
Traffic is at a standstill on the northbound section of the motorway between junction 8 for the M5 and junction 9 for Wednesbury.
In an update on X, National Highways reported: “Traffic is being held on the #M6 northbound between J8 (#M5) and J9 (#Wednesbury) due to a collision involving multiple vehicles.
“@WMPolice on scene and @OFFICIALWMAS en route. We’ll keep you updated, please expect delays,” reports Birmingham Live.
According to traffic monitor Inrix, current delays are around 90 minutes.
The site warns: “Long delays and three lanes blocked due to accident on M6 Northbound at J8 M5.
“Congestion to J6 M6 (Spaghetti Junction). Approach with care.
“Traffic is being filtered passed the scene by the M5 Entry slip road as it meets the M6.”
