Donald Trump has been branded “sick in the head” after appeared to call for the death of Democrat politicians who urged US soldiers to “disobey unlawful orders”.
The US President branded six Democrat lawmakers – all themselves veterans – as “traitors” for calling on serving military and intelligence personnel to “refuse illegal orders.”
Trump wrote: “This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP??? President DJT.”
He then added: “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” Trump then reposted a message that read: “Hang them, George Washington would!”
California Governor Gavin Newsom replied: “Trump just reposted this. It is a call to hang Democratic lawmakers who spoke out against Trump. The President of the United States of America just called for the death of Democratic lawmakers. This man is sick in the head.”
Senators Elissa Slotkin and Mark Kelly and Representatives Jason Crow, Maggie Goodlander, Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan said the “threats to our Constitution” are coming “from right here at home.”
Speaking on Fox news, Crow said: “We are standing by our troops, our service members who are often put in very difficult positions.
“Donald Trump has put them in very difficult positions and has alluded to putting them in even more difficult positions in the months and years ahead.
“So we are reminding folks about what the uniform code of military justice says, what the Constitution says, what the law of war says.”
