A woman faces charges following an alleged arson attack at a Birmingham residence where children were present. The blaze erupted at a property on Deykin Avenue in Witton on Monday (November 17).
Emergency crews, including firefighters and other services, rushed to the scene shortly after 4pm. West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that paramedics examined four youngsters – one girl and three boys – at the location.
Fortunately, none sustained any injuries, reports Birmingham Live. A service spokesperson stated: “We were called to reports of a property fire on Deykin Avenue in Witton at 5.04pm on Monday. We sent an ambulance to the scene. Four children – a girl and three boys – were assessed by ambulance staff.
“But they did not require further treatment and so were discharged at the scene.”
West Midlands Fire Service confirmed they received the call at 4.05pm on Monday.
Officers have confirmed that Safoora Bi of Deykin Avenue has been charged with arson with recklessness endangering life.
The 38-year-old is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today (November 19).
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “A woman has been charged with arson following a fire at a house in Birmingham. We were called alongside emergency service colleagues to the address on Deykin Avenue just before 5pm on Monday (November 17).
“Four children were at the address and thankfully weren’t injured.
“Safoora Bi, aged 38, of Deykin Avenue, was arrested and is due at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning charged with arson with recklessness to endanger life.
“Anyone with information should call 101 quoting log 3176 of 17 November.”
