Barber Ben McCabe has revealed he’s been averaging two Final Boss cuts a day at Razortrim in Erdington, Birmingham, as the new trend continues to sweep the country
The “Ibiza Final Boss” phenomenon is now taking the nation by storm. It all started when clips of Geordie Jack Kay dancing in Ibiza went viral across social media.
Flaunting a gold chain, sunglasses and a highly distinctive haircut, it sparked massive demand at barbershops throughout the UK for this unconventional style. The 26 year old has triggered a fresh hair trend, according to barber Ben McCabe, who reveals he’s been swamped with appointments for the hairstyle.
Ben, 21, who operates at Razortrim in Erdington, Birmingham, told The Mirror he’s been completing an average of two Final Boss cuts daily.
“Everyone is requesting it!” he discloses, noting that the cut costs £28 at Razortrim. This follows reports that Ibiza Final Boss Jack Kay could earn a six-figure sum through sponsorship agreements, reports the Mirror.
Nevertheless, he confesses he never anticipated it would become more than a comedic meme when he initially spotted the notorious post. “When I first saw it, I thought it hilarious – we were all sending it around. It looks like he’s stuck it on!”.
“Then the very first day I was back at work – people were asking for it, and showing me the video.”
He continues: “Everyone has got their own style; some people might find it attractive, some not. A lot have taken inspiration from it. The accessories all help – the vest, the chain, the tattoos, the man bag, it’s a vibe. I wouldn’t get it myself – I’m vanilla, but people love it.
“It’s Ibiza season and this is the style – whether it wears off by winter who knows, or whether it will come back next summer. But it’s definitely hot now.”
Apprentice barber Ollie Stokes, 17, was amongst those who adored the look and requested Ben give him the cut in a video that has racked up nearly a million views since being shared on TikTok.
Today, however, Ollie has opted to style the cut somewhat more conservatively.
“After I got the cut, I put it on my Snapchat, and my friends were creasing up. But I think I’d save The Final Boss for when I go to Ibiza.”
Regarding the challenge of perfecting the Ibiza bob – arguably the most notorious since Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel do in Friends – Ben reveals it’s actually not that difficult to achieve.
“It’s pretty similar to just a normal skin fade. It’s longer on top. There’s a bit less of a blend. You got more of a Peaky Blinders style going on,” he explains.
“The perfect Final Boss is a high skin fade with the top slicked to the side. But it’s mainly the beard that makes it.”
And it’s not just any beard, he adds: “It’s that chin strap that Jack has in his video. It makes the jawline look sharp. The chin strap is the main pinnacle of the Final Boss.”
