Pegi Robinson, 64, from Ohio, US, has died almost twice – once when she was five years old and then again at the age of 25 after suffering pregnancy complications
A woman has shared her extraordinary story of how she narrowly escaped death twice and even had a heated debate with God to let her live. Pegi Robinson is no stranger to defying the odds. Her first brush with death came at the tender age of five when she drowned while swimming in a local pond.
Two decades later, at 25, complications during pregnancy led her on a cosmic journey, culminating in a bright white room. In this room, she said she encountered God and begged him to let her return to life – but he was not easily persuaded, even suggesting that she was behaving like a “spoiled child”.
“My eyes scanned the room and stopped at the person sitting up front and centre,” the retired counsellor recounted to NeedToKnow.
“It was God – and he was ready to hear my complaints. I started screaming at him: ‘Hell no, I won’t go, you can’t make me, I have kids to raise.’ I told him I couldn’t leave them on Earth without a mother’s love and protection.
“Then, a scene opened to my left, showing me entering a grocery store. In front of the cash register was a clerk and a boy throwing a fit. He was demanding what he wanted and he wanted it right now.
“I turned back and looked at God – he was showing me that I was acting like a spoiled child. I knew he used this scene to let me know I needed to humble myself before him. Then, he spoke to me telepathically, in a male authoritative – yet loving – voice.”
God is said to have informed Pegi, who is now 64, that it was her time. She cried “abuse” as her words tumbled out rapidly into the pristine, white air.
Pegi, hailing from Ohio, US, then sought to negotiate with God. The mother of three confessed: “What I said felt dirty in this pure place.
“I concluded, firmly, if he could show me that my kids would be better off without me, for whatever reason, then I’d agree to stay. If not, I will beg to return to Earth.
“As I waited for a response, I noticed a man standing waiting for me to accompany him – it was Jesus. I saw him from behind; his back, white robe and shoulder length wavy hair.
“As soon as I stood beside him, we descended down to Earth, hovering above our trailer roof at night. I peered inside and saw my sons discussing the fact I had died.”
Her youngest son, Jeremy, now 44, told his brother, Matthew, now 45: “I want mum back and I want her back right now”. Unable to bear Jeremy’s pain, Pegi decided to return to Heaven’s waiting room. She recounted: “I sobbed at Jesus’ feet, with God sitting beside him.
“It’s my fault I had died; I took a chance and so I chose to stay. I would wait right there for my sons to join me someday. Just as I started to relax, I asked God: ‘Who will teach them about you?’ Suddenly, I was back in the hospital.”
At the age of 25, Pegi was two months pregnant with twins. She had complained of pelvic pain, but was reassured that it wasn’t an ectopic pregnancy. However, within just a few days, the agony became so excruciating that she couldn’t walk – and then heavy bleeding began.
Whisked to hospital, Pegi found herself in a wheelchair being wheeled down an endless corridor in search of a room. When she attempted to move her fingers, something shifted and her body seemed to disconnect from her mind.
Pegi recalled: “I had lost contact with my body. I couldn’t tell it what to do. I felt like I was going to pass out and then my chin hit my chest. Suddenly, I shot up like a rocket through space. I was terrified; I knew I had just died.”
Pegi likens her journey to Heaven as a “bumpy roller coaster ride with no way off”. Sensation gradually returned to her body and she was desperate to share her experience with the nurses – though she knew they wouldn’t believe her.
A subsequent scan revealed that Pegi had experienced internal bleeding, which had flooded her entire abdominal cavity right up to her chest, caused by an ectopic pregnancy. Her relatives were summoned to bid their farewells as her survival seemed unlikely.
Although she lost both babies, she pulled through and now recounts her near-death experience to demonstrate that there’s “no such thing as dying”.
She continued: “God gives us memories to educate us. These are stored in our soul and are unforgettable. The older and wiser we get, the more we’re able to process them.
“It’s a gift that keeps giving the more they’re unwrapped. I’ve learned that we’re never alone. We just have to learn how to listen. God can show you a scene from your future that never has to happen, he can slow down or speed up time.
“It’s what we need at that time to understand how we were loved and protected by him. I am filled with gratitude every day of my life for God allowing me to come back and raise my boys.”
