Emmerdale could be welcoming back a soap legend in a Eric Pollard twist
Emmerdale fans have ‘worked out’ Eric Pollard’s new love interest and she’s a returning soap legend.
Eric (Chris Chittell) has been a staple on the ITV soap since 1986. As the show’s longest-serving character, Eric has been involved in several big storylines over the years.
From his many marriages to his heartbreaking battle with Parkinson’s disease, his time in the Dales has not been short of drama.

So much so recently, as earlier this year, his relationship with Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) came to an end.
Brenda ended things after he drained her life savings on a failed crypto venture. She called off their engagement and left after 17 years.
Eric has also been supporting grandson Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) following the death of his mum Leyla (Roxy Shahidi), and also amid his surrogacy storyline with Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).
In Thursday’s episode (August 15) the pair had a heart-to-heart over Jacob missing his mum, especially with Jacob now set to be a father.
However, fans can’t help but think a new romance is on the cards for Eric and they reckon it’s with someone who could make a sensational return to the village.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person wrote: “I adore Eric so much, he needs a new romance now Brenda isn’t coming back.”
Someone else then suggested Gloria, Eric’s ex wife. They wrote: “Remember Gloria? His ex? She might return and they could get back together.” Another agreed “Oh yes that would be good!” Someone else said: “From what I can remember things ended badly but he could forgive her.”
Soap fans will recall that Gloria made her debut on Emmerdale in 2000 and hit it off straight away with Eric. The pair ended up getting married, with Gloria becoming Eric’s fourth wife.
However, Gloria ended up having an affair which was eventually exposed – much to Eric’s horror. He chucked her out and later on her car and shows were found, appearing to confirm that she was dead.
But in a major twist, Gloria was actually alive as she sent Eric a photo of her in an unknown sun-soaked location, and revealed she had faked her death to start afresh. She was last seen in the Dales in late 2003 and she appeared in a video the following year.
