Miss Universe Jamaica Dr. Gabrielle Henry was rushed to hospital after falling off the stage during the preliminary rounds of the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand

A leading Miss Universe candidate as stretchered away after dramatically tumbling off the stage during the preliminary rounds in Thailand. Startling footage circulating on social media captures Dr Gabrielle Henry, competing for Jamaica, strutting across the stage in a dazzling orange gown and towering heels.

Following her pose at the front of the catwalk, she headed towards the left side – but took a nasty spill after mistakenly stepping over the platform’s edge. Spectators immediately leapt to their feet to assist the contestant whilst numerous crew members rushed to her aid.

Social media clips then revealed Miss Jamaica being wheeled away on a stretcher as onlookers applauded in solidarity, reports the Express US.

The Miss Universe Jamaica organisation confirmed Dr. Henry, an eye specialist from Jamaica who claimed the Miss Universe Jamaica 2025 crown and is currently vying for the prestigious title, was whisked to Paolo Rangsit Hospital, a private healthcare centre in Thailand’s Thanyaburi district.

The organisation confirmed Miss Jamaica escaped serious harm and examinations are ongoing to monitor her recovery. “Medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery,” the organisation declared.

The statement added, “We kindly ask everyone to stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care.”

Raul Rocha, proprietor of the Miss Universe pageant, has reassured supporters that Dr. Henry is receiving proper medical attention and escaped without any fractures following her tumble from the catwalk. Taking to Instagram, he confirmed: “I was there with her family and her, and thankfully, there are no broken bones, and she is under good care.

“She will remain under observation for the rest of the night, and we will remain in touch with her family and support her. Our prayers go out for her prompt recovery.”

Before her accident, Miss Jamaica had taken part in both the national costume and swimwear segments of the contest.

The 72nd Miss Universe competition began with the sashing ceremony on November 5, though it has been plagued by scandal. Earlier this month, the organisation faced backlash when Miss Universe Thailand director Nawat Itsaragrisil labelled Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, as “stupid” during a live-streamed address to contestants.
