John Sugden’s crimes have finally come to light on Emmerdale, though fans are still speculating over the whereabouts of Anthony Fox
It’s been a very busy week on Emmerdale, which began with the wedding of Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham).
Elsewhere, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and his evil husband John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) were in hospital after John threw them both off a cliff.
However, John pinned the incident on his half-brother, Robert (Ryan Hawley), who was quickly taken back to prison despite maintaining his innocence.
On Wednesday (September 17), John tried to unplug Aaron’s life support before fleeing the hospital. Aaron later woke up and confirmed that his husband was keeping Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) hostage.
As the police began searching for Mack, a panicked John secretly dropped him outside the hospital, claiming he had found him on the side of the road.

Police cars covered the village in search of John on Friday (September 19), as Mack relayed what the villain had confessed to doing in the bunker.
Elsewhere, Caleb (William Ash) and Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) worried about John spilling their own secrets if he got caught.
Soap viewers will remember the shocking moment in January when Aaron lashed out at Ruby’s abusive father Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day), only to return later and find his nemesis dead at the depot.
Aaron was tormented by the belief that he had unintentionally killed Anthony and implored John to dispose of the corpse. Yet, unbeknownst to Aaron, it was actually Ruby who had committed the crime.
Despite claiming to have buried Anthony in a spot in the woods, it was soon revealed that John had been lying, with the corpse’s whereabouts still unknown.
“I can’t believe we trusted John like we did,” Caleb said on tonight’s episode, with Ruby adding: “Well, I suppose if someone tells you they’ll dispose of a body for you, you’ve got to question what kind of crazy they are.”
On the prospect of John telling the police about Anthony, Ruby later said: “It’ll be worse for him.”
Caleb then noted: “Not if he’s got nothing to lose. He might even get a kick out of having his husband in prison with him. Who knows, maybe he likes getting people sent down as much as he does at nearly killing them.”
Speculation about Anthony’s whereabouts and whether he’s alive or not has been rife in recent months, with fans now convinced that he’ll make a reappearance soon.
Several viewers believe that the police could find Anthony in the same bunker that Mack was held in.
“It would have been a good twist if Anthony was somehow alive and was in the bunker too,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another added: “Yeah this Anthony plot isn’t over yet,” while a third said: “Anthony is defo going to get found after Caleb and Ruby mentioned him tonight.”
Meanwhile, a fourth viewer theorised: “Reckon John’s redemption will be him taking the blame for Anthony or Cain will pin it on him.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
