A cat owner was pretty freaked out to learn where her missing pets turned up – as she’d never actually found the room in her house before. She swiftly moved out as a result
A pet owner decided to move house after finding out where her cats kept disappearing to.
In the wild, cats are both predators and prey. Exploring hidden places helps them find safe spots to hide from danger or to stalk prey. This instinct remains strong, even in domestic cats, who often feel safer in hidden cubby holes. So sometimes, they ended up in spots you really wouldn’t expect.
A woman called Madison learned this the hard way recently. When looking for her mischievous moggies at her home in Colorado, US, she made an unexpected discovery. The trio of cats – Leo, Nala and Sully – could be heard meowing through a storage cupboard. And after following the sounds, she was led to a room she’d never stumbled across before.
The TikToker recalled: “We couldn’t find them anywhere. We definitely considered that one of us had maybe left a door or window open.”
Then, she realised the noise was actually coming from behind a fake wall.
Madison and her partner realised the false wall led to a vast secret cellar beneath the house – and chillingly, it wasn’t empty.
In a scene that was something straight out of the horror film Sinister, Madison found a Bible in a zip-lock baggie sewn together by fishing wire.
Creepily, there was also a large mason jar sealed full of dirt and rocks, as well as an old half-developed roll of film.
Madison told Newsweek: “It seemed like someone was down there at some point.”
Freaked out by the find, Madison and her partner decided to move out of the property. After filming the chilling clip, they opted to move back to Texas.
She admitted: “We were pretty freaked out by it and decided not to go down there any more. But at least the cats had a blast exploring it!”
From the safety of her new home, the TikToker added: “Cats are extremely curious animals. You’ll never know what they discover!”
