Keiron and Jordan Lewis subjected their friend to a ‘very nasty, very unpleasant, and very prolonged assault’ when they overreacted during a drug and booze binge
Twin brothers brutally assaulted their friend, leaving him in a pool of his own blood. After the savage attack, they chillingly told their victim: “This is what you f****** get when you think you’re it.”
Keiron Lewis and Jordan Lewis, both 26, launched the brutal assault on their friend Curtis Williams at his ex-partner’s home near Pontypridd on August 13. The trio had been out boozing and snorting cocaine before they arrived at the house around 11pm.
During a sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, it was revealed that Keiron Lewis refused to leave the property despite the presence of the ex-girlfriend’s children. When the woman went upstairs to check on her kids, she was followed by the Lewis twins and Mr Williams became aware of a “commotion” in the bedroom.
Upon going upstairs, he found the two defendants “attacking” the woman but when he tried to intervene, they redirected their fury towards him, reports Wales Online.
Prosecutor Tom Roberts stated that Mr Williams fell onto the toilet after being punched, and the Lewis brothers began taking turns to pummel him in the face as hard as they could.
As his nose filled with blood, Mr Williams attempted to shield himself. The defendants briefly walked off, but when the victim tried to shut the door, they ripped it off its hinges.
He was then brutally “punched, kicked, and kneed” with Keiron Lewis taunting him: “This is what you f****** get when you think you’re it.”
Mr Roberts stated that the defendants left Mr Williams “practically for dead”, telling the woman: “Now you can be alone with his dead body as we have killed him.” The aftermath left Mr Williams and the bathroom drenched in blood.
The police were summoned and the Lewis brothers were apprehended at the scene. Their footwear, including Jordan Lewis’ steel toe-capped boots, were smeared with the victim’s blood.
Mr Williams was rushed to hospital where he received treatment for severe bruising to his face, eye sockets, and right shoulder, a head wound, a broken nose, and a fractured cheek.
Keiron Lewis, of Balaclava Court, Penycraig, and Jordan Lewis, of Sherwood Street, Tonypandy, later admitted to wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm and criminal damage.
The court was informed that Keiron Lewis has nine previous convictions, including four battery offences, while Jordan Lewis has one unrelated prior conviction.
In mitigation, it was argued that both defendants were under the influence of alcohol and cocaine and found themselves in a situation where they “overreacted”, but they now express remorse for their actions.
Sentencing, Recorder Mark Powell KC declared: “This was a very nasty, very unpleasant, and very prolonged assault to someone you owed a debt of friendship rather than hostility.”
Keiron Lewis was sentenced to 45 months behind bars, while Jordan Lewis received a three-year prison sentence.
