Infamous gangster Marc Webley was shot outside the Anchor Inn in Granton just before New Year’s Eve in 2023 – but a new video has come to light shot weeks before his death

Slain gangster Marc Webley headbutted his rapist brother after blasting him for harassing a 12-year-old girl
A gunned-down gangster was filmed headbutting his rapist brother for harassing a 12-year-old girl just before his death. Footage shows Marc Webley for attacking sibling Don, who is out of frame, in an Edinburgh pub weeks before he was murdered in Hogmany in 2023.
The then 38-year-old was filming himself singing in a video before spotting Don. After yelling his name, Webley thrust his head into him and told his brother to “go and go away”. He added “Go and go away Don. I’ve had a good night all night. She’s a 12-year-old lassie ya f***** idiot.”
Don’s slurred reply was: “Yes I know, I just like hanging about with her.” Marc responded “F*** sake” before the footage ended.
According to the Daily Record, the video was posted online by a gang member of drugs boss Mark Richardson and the Daniel crime clan. It said: “Don Webley, convicted rapist.”
In April, Don was jailed for seven years at the High Court in Edinburgh for rape. His victim had earlier dubbed him “a beast” and pleaded for help in messages before she fled from the Edinburgh flat where she was subjected to the ordeal.
Yesterday gunman Grant Hunter admitted to shooting Marc Webley outside the Anchor Inn in Granton just before the bells on New Year’s Eve in 2023. Webley was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries on January 1.
Slain gangster Webley was in a relationship with Scots Euromillions winner Jane Park shortly before his brutal death. Park subsequently released an emotional tribute on Instagram, saying she was “absolutely devastated” on the day he passed away.
She went on to claim she had spoken to him hours before his death. At the time, she penned: “I can’t believe I’m writing this, we spoke yesterday.
“If I could cuddle you again and tell you everything is going to be okay, I would give anything to do it Marc.” She added: “The months we spent together, you taught me some valuable things in life and I will never forget you.
“I am absolutely devastated. The best bed for you is up there.
“My handsome.” On January 2, she shared a video of her and Webley enjoying a drink and smiling for the camera.
Hunter was due to stand trial for the killing at the High Court in Edinburgh but pleaded guilty to Webley’s murder. His ex-girlfriend Emma McVie, 27, and Gary Robertson 22, also appeared at the High Court in Edinburgh and pleaded guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Hunter also pleaded guilty to the attempted murder of Stewart Pearson during the same incident. Judge Lord Mulholland saw CCTV footage of Hunter parking a stolen Hyundai Tucson car outside the pub.
The red Hyundai, which had at least one other person inside, was seen pulling up alongside Webley before shots were fired. The assassin got out of the car and pulled down a balaclava he was wearing so Webley could know who he was.
Then the shooter was seen getting back inside before driving away in the direction of Leith. Just hours later, officers seized a car around four miles away from the murder scene in the Craigentinny area of the capital.
The court heard how McVie cleaned the car which Hunter drove to go and murder Webley. She also pleaded guilty to washing the clothes that she and her boyfriend had been wearing on the night of the hit.
Robertson, of Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to disposing of the handgun used to murder Webley. He also pleaded guilty to providing cash and cocaine and a change of clothing for Hunter and McVie.
In the days before his death, Webley posted a series of ‘come ahead’ videos, urging his rivals to ‘come to the pub’. He was responding to an earlier attempt on his life which saw a car mount a pavement in a bid to mow him down.
