The Guns ‘n’ Roses frontman threw a wobbly when the band were playing back-to-back gigs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – and demanded he stay there

Daft rock star Axl Rose shunned a posh suite at the Dorchester to kip in a footie dressing room instead. The Guns ‘n’ Roses frontman threw a wobbly when the band were playing back-to-back gigs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He insisted on staying in a “nice suite” at the venue and refused to travel back to his five-star hotel in Mayfair after the first show. Desperate promoters then rushed to set up a makeshift Ikea bed in the away dressing room in Spurs’ ground instead.

A source said: “Axl said he didn’t want to go back to the Dorchester between his two consecutive nights at Spurs’ stadium. He said, ‘Find me a nice suite in the stadium.’ You don’t really say no to him when he is insisting.

“This was the first music gig in a brand new stadium, but the problem was that there is no such thing as a suite in it.

“So someone was sent out to the Ikea on the North Circular to buy him a bed and bedding. They weren’t sure where to set it up and thought about one of the hospitality boxes, but that felt like a bad idea.

“In the end, they put him in the away dressing room. Apparently he was really happy with it. The next day, the roadies packed the bed and the bedding and everything away into one of their vans, and off they went with it.”

Spurs moved into their new 62,850-seater stadium in 2019 but it has hosted other events including boxing, NFL and concerts.

Among the big music stars to perform there have been Beyonce and Lady Gaga – but Guns ‘n’ Roses were the first in July 2022, during the band’s Covid-delayed UK tour.

The news comes as Axl Rose appeared to have a meltdown on stage during the band’s concert in Buenos Aires in October, during the opening moments of Welcome To The Jungle.

The 63-year-old Guns ‘N Roses frontman flipped out on stage at the band’s concert at Estadio Huracán in Argentina. Rose was seen losing his temper just moments into the first song of the gig.

The rockstar threw his microphone at drummer Isaac Carpenter’s drumkit. Rose ripped off his leather jacket and stormed off of the stage in protest.

He later returns to the stage, where he proceeds to kick the bass drum. “So I’ll just try and wing this,” Rose told the crowd, an apparent reference to technical issues.
